Anyone who lives in the L.A. area, go to the "First Cabin" on huntington drive in Arcadia on friday or saturday nite. If you can walk out of there after seeing Pat O'Brian and honestly say you've seen better, i'll go see whoever it is you call better and eat the bastage's shorts right there on stage i've been playing blues and classic rock in a bar band for 2 decades and i can tell you that i feel like a baby when i see this guy. SRV was a major idol for me, but Pat overall puts him away IMO. he also plays harmonica like that guy in blues traveler, WHILE playing guitar. (harmonica holder round the neck) But it's a small bar thats well past capacity every nite he plays, so get there early unless you wann be squished against a wall. trust me on this one, i've taken a lot of people to see this guy and every one of em had thier jaws on the floor by the 2nd set or so. He's not technically amazing on the guitar, he's musically amazing. Not SRV in that respect, but musically he's untouchable by any guitar player i've ever seen in any style with maybe a hadfull of exceptions.
