Like I expect most of us are, I'm allergic to most broadcast radio content. (Thank God for satellite radio!) With all the music out there, the same safe 300 songs get old. And so I present two alternatives, both of the streaming type.

http://www.wkze.com/equissentials.html

The New Orleans station leans toward blues & funk for most of the day, and WKZE is somewhat like a college radio station with content chosen by 40 somethings. Both of their content varies widely throughout the day, so give them a chance at another time if the currently playing musical genres don't meet your liking.

Enjoy!

The New Orleans channel is also available for play by using the freeware "Internet Boombox" http://www.jajsoft.com/products.html .

Link to freeware MP3 player Winamp, required for some streaming content - http://www.winamp.com/player/

Winamp skin for those from the analog era http://www.winamp.com/skins/details.php?id=81567

To the best of my recollection, all the freeware software above is spyware free. Internet Boombox has an option to install some casino thing, but it is easily sidestepped during installation.

And from the info of little relevance department - my neice's boyfriend is related to Anders Osborne. http://www.andersosborne.com/ She spent a couple weeks hanging around the pre-Katrina New Orleans music and club scene with Osborne as a tour guide. I'm maybe just a LITTLE jealous. But she's a great kid, and deserves good things to come her way.
