This is a picture of my 1962 BMW R50 I restored about 15 years ago. I got it for $400 in so, so condition. I had some seat brackets fabricated for the Harley solo seat and Pilion. The antique saddle bags were there, but really scratched up, so the paint guy put a pebble surface on it that turned out great. I put on bullet front turn signals, put turn signals in the saddle bags, it's hard to see, but there are two lights per bag. The wheels were rusted and I bought new wheels and spokes (brought to a shop to thread togather). The "Beard" (who has painted the zoo bus in Portland), saw me out on it one day and said he would do the paint job for $400 because he liked the bike so much. He repainted it factory, with hand done pin stripes. The exhast pipes were shot, so I redid everything, but put on glass packs for more power (only 500cc) and a great sound. I got a lot of high fives and smiles from Harley to Honda guys. Even went to the beach with a bunch of friends one time and when we were done walking around, had a phone number with a note saying "I would love a ride, Julie". I figure it was the bike, not me, but what the heck. I'm 6', and the bike was pretty short for me, so I finally sold it to a harley guy, who bought it for girl friend. The one thing I really liked about it was that it always started 2nd kick after a long winter storage. The engine only had 25,000 miles, and I never did anything to it.
