Just curious how many folks have converted to the belt drive and opinions about it...

As you know, there is no perfect way to transmit the power, as they all have their pros & cons. Belts have a number of positive pluses to them. One very minor little gotcha with belts is sand & gravel contamination. Avoiding that is helpful to belt life.

Jaymo and I have both done them and love em. The cost is high for sure, but if you get one and decide you don't like it, you can always resell it and get your money back. They do not wear at all and in theory they should last forever. (the sprockets I am talking about)

On the other hand, what does it cost to replace the chain and sprocket? At a little over 20K miles my chain is showing it's age and I think I should start considering a replacement. The belt is very tempting but, considering what I've already spent on the Blue Streak, how could I sneak this one past the wife?

You can get complete Triumph kits with the chain and both sprockets for $189.00 from TriumpeStore:
TriumpheStore site

The kits shown are TA (17/42) and SM (16/42). There should be a new SM kit available to match the new models (18/42), if you want the 18, you better confirm this or you will get one of the others.

Replacing the chain and sprockets at $200 every 20K miles, will get you to 80,000 miles. Or you can spend $850 then go 100,000 miles before spending another $138 for a new belt. I think Motion Industries can match the belt for $70.00.
This is the story I told my wife and she likes the idea - so, I'm getting one.

I can't fault that logic Plus it would keep the bike a lot cleaner.

For the last 1000 miles or so I've been getting some "surging" at some speeds while at moderate or low power levels. I was at a loss to figure it out. Finally, while doing some chain maintenance I figured out that it was the chain. Tighter in some spots than in others. New Bonneville tells me there is a 4 week to 3 month backlog on the belt conversion kits. 4 weeks I can do, but 4 months won't work. I'll definately need something by then.

I still dig mine. Expensive. Pain in the arse to install/replace (must pull swingarm). Not maintenance free - must make sure it's adjusted properly (tight enough). Wouldn't trade it for anything, except maybe shaft drive.
