My wifey, (recently completing the MSF course at the top of her class) has grown curiously close to my '05 TBA, after I made the mistake of letting her ride it from a recent road trip we took. She absolutely adores the America, and has no interest in her Honda anymore. I do allow her to ride the America to the gym, and also allowed her to take it to her MSF "reunion" they had last week. Recently, I have had sneaky suspicions about a possible "take-over" of my TBA, which could be a good thing, in that I would need a "New" one to replace the "confiscated" one... I thought my suspicions were valid night before last, as after I went to bed, and was almost asleep, I hear the garage door slowly creeping open. I listened for the distinct "popping" of my baby starting up, but figured she was too smart for that, and had probably pushed her up the road before starting her, just out of hearing range. The next day, I asked her about it, and she assured me that she would NEVER take my bike without my permission. The next day is when I found the dreaded "hairbow on the handgrip", which I think is some kind of female marking thing... I know, it's all my fault...I have surrendered one of my only remaining territories to the enemy!!!

You are a lucky man. You have something that you both enjoy together. You will find a way to get rid of the Honda and get another Triumph, maybe a Speedy.

ahhh, the ole wife insurgency trick. It will happen slowly over time. You won't know exactly the day you lost your bike but you will. It may have already happened. lol
On a serious note, you are a very lucky man to have a wife with a great interest in bikes. Families that play together do stay together. I am routing for her and for you, ahhh go get your own bike that ones hers now :-)
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Oh dear. Im afraid the lady (boss) of the house has made her move. Face facts my friend, you need a new bike as you are no longer the owner of 'her' TBA.
But look at the bright side. Now yo get to buy a new bike What will it be, another TBA or somemthing else from the House of Triumph.

The bow indicates two important factors; 1. She has claimed your Speedy. For this, there is not reversal. Case closed.
2. She has indicated that it is time for you first memorialize and then to replace your lost bike. This is a reverseable condition that can quickly change. Act fast, don't delay.

Isn't it great to have a wife that rides too? Jane loves her Honda Magna enough that she leaves my Speedy alone. That and the fact that the first time I let her take it for a solo ride, she fell over at the end of the driveway on it. Kinda hurt her feelings and embarassed her, didn't hurt the bike at all, so now she won't ride it in fear of hurting the bike, and our relationship. But I get to ride her magna whenever I want, which is a good thing, it's fast and fun. (Riding a Honda is like making love to a dog, it's fun until your friends find out.)

If she's happy on an America take her to a dealer..... The hair bow thing... I presume she has long hair. It's a bugger to get the knots out after a ride, so it could just be that she took it out after getting back and needed somewhere to put it... Just rest assured it's not a girly thing. There are no hair things on my America.... If she really wanted it you'd know about it. But then maybe she's already let you know.

Yea. You have a readily WIN WIN sit-rep here. The enemy wants what you have and as long as you have it your means to replace the one lusted after by your "beloved" enemy ( significant other)......you can GO FOR IT.

I think Mark has a point. I lost my VW to my wife, she drove it a couple of times. Then there were hair elastics on the stick, next thing I know, I'm stuck with her truck.
Pat, what year Magna? I took a buddys 83 v45 out last night, nice power but completely soulless. I admit there are times when that shaft drive seems like a good idea.

pickle, Jane has a 97 V65 Magna. The thing runs circles around my bike, even with all the work. It is a little top heavy compared to Speedy, but it is very smooth, comfortable and faster than all get out. Of course, the 9500 red line attributes to that quite a bit. It's also a chain drive and not a shaft.

Hair thingy on the handlebars... it's over dude. Tell her that you "decided" to "give" her the TBA (make points wherever you can)... then go buy an new one... so you can "both" ride "together" (more points). All in all... a total win, win situation. You are sooo lucky.

dill, I stand corrected, Jane's bike is a v45, a CF750F or something like that. Not as much soul, but still a fun bike

Tried this....?
My husband is not happy with my mood swings. The other day, he bought me a mood ring so he would be able to monitor my moods. When I'm in a good mood it turns green. When I'm in a bad mood it leaves a big ******** red mark on his forehead. Maybe next time he'll buy me a TBA !

Or "wifey" can take over the b717doc , since we may know Mark as "RocketMan" soon. Of course I want her to get a brand new bike of her choice, too.

Welcome b717doc's wife. Like Mert says, grab you own screen name and climb on board. I'm glad to hear you want a different color, one that's your own. To me there's nothing worse than seeing a couple with matching bikes, helmets, riding gear, shirts, etc. I bump heads with my wife now and then about this. Rarely do I let her buy the same Triumph shirt that I have. Just a pet peeve of mine. So when do you take delivery on your new Triumph?

Red ones are the gayest Mark! Sorry mate, life sucks and then you have to ride a red bike...

Ok, so the America is a "female" bike.......it must be true as I refer to my TBA as Bonnie and I love to "ride her" hmmm yes, if my TBA was a "male bike" I might be having a sexual identity crisis right now, but life is once again cool as I rest assured my TBA is in fact a girl bike... ride on, ride on.............................

hill... dang if i don't believe that you reasoning pretty much fills the bill on the entire issue. I was gonna get mad about the girlie comments on my beloved TBA... but what the heck, following your logic I think it is indeed a girl bike. I feel better now...

I have been told there's a lot of HOMOPHOBIA in this link. I'd like to state here and now that I have nothin' against homes. I think they are good thigs and we need them to keep the bikes dry and safe. they also come in handy for storing the beer, the dawg and the wife and kids !

It's funny, most of us refer to our bikes as our girls.. ditto with cages, boats etc. What do our lady contingent do?
I'm not too sure I like where the last few posts are going either, cos my all-black speedy most certainly ain't a girl. I don't think I've ever seen a less feminine mode of transport.. in fact I think he's a bit of thug actually, probably mugs old ladies when I'm not looking.
