So I had that fire in my pipes on Saturday. And tracked the probelm down to something that was not my fault. The question I have is should I try to warranty this out or not? I have no experience with the Triumph warranty routine. I called the dealer today figuring I could just swing by. Nope I have to scheldule an inspection appt., nearest one is august 5. Then they will submit it to Triumph and 3-5 weeks later will have to scheldule an appt to replace the part. Now the dealer is an hour and half one way, so its kind of a hassle for this.
Also this invovles an apperance probelm the pipe looks terrible. Pat has pics. I know that Triumph has not replaced some chrome for others. And I have removed 1 baffle on the pipe, the pipe is still stock apperance until you check it close.
So what do you guys think? Worth the hassle, or should I just buy some second hand pipes?
Thanks

Yeah what Kenny said. Unless it's something obviously not related to the exhaust (eg: fuel tank started leaking gas on the pipe which caught on fire) Triumph'll just say that in their opinion your modification caused the problem and invalidates the warranty. Even if it didn't, technically you've still voided it. I'd be looking for a second hand pipe. - with the number of folk here with aftermarket pipes there should be a stack of nearly new ones available 2nd hand & cheap. I've even got a set of stock america pipes under the house practically unused but shipping them to you'd stop it being worthwhile.

The fire seems to have been caused due to the wire running from the cdi to the coil falling off. The pipe filled with unburned gas and was ignited from the heat of the balance pipe. This has nothing to due with me removing a baffle.
But this is what I am looking for. Honestly I dont want to waste 4 hours of my day to have triumph turn it down.

Yeah, they get funny about warrantys when you start cutting bits off your bike. Just one question, how did you ride it running on one cylinder long enough to do that to your pipe without you noticing?

Well I had rejetted the night before and when I left the house it was hit and miss. The wire was loose so it would fire the clyinder maybe 10% of the time. I figured it was something with the carbs. So I went to the meeting spot which was only 4 miles down the road. I even coasted down the hills. It felt like the clyinder was getting way too much gas. I thought the main jet had fallen out. Never imagined the spark was the probelm. I mean a brand new bike you think well it must have been my fault not triumph's.

With the drilled pipe and carb work you have a 50/50 they will do something with it. Depends on your patience level. The most they can do is say "no". If they say yes was it worth the 4-6 hours of effort and the $60.00 in fuel to truck the bike there?

I agree with you, its worth a shot. 50/50 as you say. But if youre on the winng side of that 50, you could save yourself alot of cash. Good luck

I didnt even bother. After the hassle I had trying to order needles and jets, screw it. Plus I got a good deal on TORL off Rob so the hassle wasnt worth it. I'm giving the pipes away in the classified section if anyone's interested.

I think you would do well to tossin a bid on these first.

See what happens with that before packing the bike to the dealer. You might be able to get a really good set of pipes and save money too. But, ignore the line that says no rejetting required, Epcos normally come with bigger main and pilot jets.

As stated in the lounge I doubt those are epcos, I think he just typed the wrong ad. Because he is still looking for a core charge. I would bet those are drilled stockers. Plus I have the off road pipes that I am statisfied with...Until someone has some used TBikes.
