So, I am tired of the stock choke knob. I am not sure what I want yet, except that I dont want dice, an eight ball or the one that Brent sells (even though they are all nice). Maybe a spiked one? Anyway, are choke knobs fairly generic?

It is all about the thread of that screw... You and MErt both want that spikey one! You should get on the VTSparts guys to make one.

I used a "black chrome" drawer pull...the thread is not the same...but with a little "persuasion" you can get it to thread in...now getting it out later on.....well I don't know...

I used this one; Chrome Choke Knob . Screws right over the existing plastic knob. Nice chunky piece of chrome dresses up the carb area nicely. I opted for the smooth one.

I also have a drawer pull knob for my choke. It's not spikey but its nice, round, and chrome. Best of all it cost me less than $5.00 at Lowes.

I just fitted the black 8-ball to my stars and stripes BA the other day - £12.00 oincluding delivery off E-bay from Scotland, 5 mins work and a bit of threadlock was all that was required - looks the biz.

If you're looking for a custom one-off design, try emailing SRS with your ideas. He's got a website with his designs here and I reckon he'd be happy to look at custom stuff for you. Matt

I use a chrome skull head with read eyes from Princess auto. I think it's cool but the larger size makes it easy to pull and push. I don't know about anyone else but I don't like the way the choke is so hard to set. Setting the mid range is terrible. I have to put my right thumb in between the carb and the knob to adjust it. It seems to stick at each end.

you can make anything you want, too. find what you want to use for a knob(as long as you can drill into it) Get a metric screw of the right size, cut off the head and thread it into the knob to be. I made my own dice, and I believe Benny from Long Island has my prototype. He may have a picture on here somewhere.

I've been trying to remember who made it!! HA! Yeah I have a pic. I actually replaced it with an aluminum one from tvsparts recently. The screw was coming loose inside the dice itself. I'm sure some superglue would have cured it, but I was lured by the billet... Here's the pic.

Benny,
Could you post a pic of the VTS knob? I'd like to see how that color looks on your bike...

I emailed a quick drawing of what I thought a spiked choke knob should be like. I am anxious to see what they come up with, price and etc.

My billett one was about 20 bucks if that gives you a ballpark. would be interesting to see how much they want for a spikey one.

I'm such a cheapskate . I got an 8-ball keychain from the dollar store, pulled out the chain mount and epoxied the correct metric thread bolt into it. Cut off the bolt head and lock-tite it on with a jam nut. Total investment under 2 bucks. Mike Sr.

Soren, one idea for a knob would be to go to an antique auto swap meet ( or even an old junk yard, if they let you scavenge at 'em like I remember them letting us do as kids ), and see if any old dash knobs would be unique enough and work. Some of the old cars got pretty fancy, and in fact some reproduction stuff may work too.

Just out of curiousity, how do you remove the stock chock knob? The black knob just spins on mine and doesn't seem to "unscrew" (and I'm not just turning the little front cap). I have a few items around that might make interesting knobs if I can only get the stock one off...

I think you'll find a jam nut on the back. Tiny nut, like maybe an 8mm at best. Need to hold that as you unscrew.

Thanks for the info. I had seen that nut, but thought it was part of the choke arm.
Decided to try out this drawer pull knob I've had floating around in my work bench since 1998. My wife says "You can't use that... it looks like a knob." My response was, "It is a knob."
What do you think, a little too big?

Looks good. I'm all for alternative finishes (besides chrome) and interesting substitutes with everyday objects. Good times.
