I have a little oil drip on the neutral indicator wire that is under the motor behind the oil filter on my 2004 Speedmaster
The oil filter is not leaking.
Just replaced the front sprocket seal & it stopped leaking.
The sending unit for the neutral indicator that the wire plugs into seems tight.
Is there a gasket in there that might be bad?
Or should I just tighten the sending unit more?

Do a good clean job on it. Next time you go riding, try to isolate exactly where it comes from. Overtightening can be worse than a small drip so be careful about tightening things. I've found that chain lube can work its way down and appear to be leaks as several places. Maybe take off the sprocket cover and clean up very well. If the output shaft seal was leaking and has been replaced, it could have been damaged on installation so don't rule it out.

If the sender unit is pipe thread, (which is often the case) you really REALLY don't want to over tighten it. (Now how would I know that? :-0)

If it is the sender unit leaking, some Gasoila thread sealant on the threads should help. I'd hate to see you buy a whole can for one little leak though. If there is a company nearby who does any petroleum piping installs, such as a gasoline or petroleum trucker, a heating oil company, or a gas station supply company, they may be willing to give you a little dab. If you are within driving distance of NW CT, I would be happy to give you some. I could probably mail you a little dab too if you like. PM to me your mailing address if that's the case. The stuff we use is similar in appearance and consistency to glazier's putty, but perhaps a bit more gooey.

The alternative to Gasoila, teflon tape, is in my experience, usually ineffective at stopping high temperature petroleum leaks.

Back in my hydraulics days, we used pipe dope on stuff and it came in wee little maybe 12 oz cans with a brush built into the cap. Is that the stuff? Can't be too expensive I would think.
