I took a ride up to Falls Village Friday to Toymakers cafe.
Took Rt7 North to 126 into Falls Village. Easy to find its right on Main St. If you blink you miss the whole town. I pull into the gravel parking lot and know I'm going to like this place, couple of old barns out back with old bust covered parts bikes peeking out the door. Nice place inside too. Couple of old sofas, and plenty of place to sit. Great menu selection. Since I rode in on aTriumph I order the British Banger Platter. Eggs,Toast,Bangers(sausage) Grilled Tomato, and Mushrooms. Coffe served in a Triumph Mug. This meal would be better for a 45deg fall morning than an 80+ july day. That said I still left a clean plate, my plan was to ride off the extra calories. As I was finishing up Greg the co-owner came over and we talk about bikes, and his parts business, that he runs out of the barns. Friday morning I had the only bike in the lot. Greg said Sat & Sun are the big bike days. Toymakers is a great place to stop at if your ride takes you up into north west CT. Biker friendly Cafe, Great Food, and great Roads.
PS mert sorry you had to work. you missed a great meal, and a nice morning ride. next time breakfast is on me!!

Hey Mert, I missed you at Toymakers by 10 minutes this morning. Big Poppy showed up another 10 minutes after that.

Oh well, maybe next time.

The place is great! Super nice people, and a British Banger PLatter that can't be beat!

Greg came out and showed us the barn, and his workshop. WOW! It's got to be seen to be believed.

Big Poppy,
Nice meeting, and talking with you.
Hey, wait a minute! We had such a GREAT breakfast, we forgot to go riding!

I had a great ride home, even stopped to talk to a guy with a Norton 850. Got back in time to go for a 3 hour cruise on my boat. A super day!

Keep in touch. We'll get together again.
Good luck to you, and your wife with the msc.

Charlie

When I pulled in, and parked, I asked some guys standing around their bikes if anyone had been there on a bike like mine. I was running a little late (as usual), and thought I might have missed Big Poppy. One guy says to me "yeah, a good looking girl, with a black pony-tail just left on a blue one. How did I know it was you? Anyway, I think I got there at 10:20, so you must have left about 10:10? By the way, I have a "Clocks For Bikes" stem nut clock, which is funny 'cause I don't even wear a watch.

Looking forward to riding with you again.

oh well. glad you made it there anyway and you got to meet John, as well.

the CT contingency grows...

I tried that, it didn't work. I need to adjust my attitude, not my clock.

Mert sorry we missed you, got to meet Uncle Charlie and I concur the English bangle was everything said it was.

Greg, would have to rank somewhere up there with the Triumph GODS. He was busy cooking, but still took a few minutes to spend with us showed us his shop and all the bikes he has collected over the years.

Had a great ride through the Litchfield hills.

Hope we all can get together for a ride soon.

Durn - I should have checked in earlier. That place is almost in my backyard.

I'd be happy to serve as tour guide for some unmapped lake and mountain roads if y'all get back this way.

i sort of went out without a real plan of destination; but i was craving some of the best riding in CT and well, you've got the lock on that. The NW hills have it hands down.

tough for me to ride on weekends I work full day Sat & 1/2 day Sun. If your ever off Thu or Fri, and want to run up a few miles let me know. Suggested to mert that maybe we set up a MT Greylock run later this year. I havent been up to the top of the mountain in a few years, plus lot of good riding up that way.
