I can see why some of you wouldn't like The Who since their music was associated with the scooter riding Mods back in the day.

Personally, I don't think The Who have been the same since Keith Moon died. Who's Next is a great album, one I still listen to occasionally. Hard to find a bad song on that album.

Hi newt,

Amazon.com has their album for $12.99

Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs

I would also suggest the live Clapton version with Preston on "One More Car, One More Rider". It is worth it. I think I have some live Derek and the Dominoes recorded in 1970 at the Fillmore, but Bell Bottom is not on the set list. I do have several other versions including the one on the album Phil linked that I will burn for you. Time to go to the archives!

I AM SO GLAD THE SUBJECT CAME UP HERE, it was on my mind today and if we hadnt been talking about it, i wouldnt have thought of it

I'm a little late to the party (and I certainly haven't read all of the posts on this thread) but...

I went to the Who's farewell tour ~~ in 1982.

How many farewell tours can a band have?

Me, and possibly one or two others had a thing for Gracie Slick.

I was definitely one of the other two. Big time...

Come on guys!

If for NO OTHER reason than that GREATEST SCREAM in all of Rock's history by the illustrious Mr.Daultry, and those WORDS..."Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss"...As I believe THIS to be one of the defining songs of Rock Music's essence of defiance, awareness, and the sheer expression of freedom...they should at the very least be accorded the respect that they deserve for THAT last 40-seconds or so of that ONE recording...ALONE!

Cheers,
Dwight
(nope! I won't get fooled again...thanks in part to Pete and the boys)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

The Who's music to Barf Brooks and Kiss (my a s s) is like comparing Glenfiddich 16yr. to Jack Daniels (swill IMHO).

Wait a minute Keith,
Jack Daniels makes the best fingernail polish remover in the world! I've heard some people actually drink it!

Hi Rev,
Some bands are like furniture stores and their "going out of/for business" sales. Just needing to raise some money.

just spotted this link after a few weeks offline (duff pc!!!!) but got to add my twopenneth saw WHO 4 weeks ago at the Leeds festival ABSOLUTELY BL***Y FANTASTIC,
they were top of the bill, fantastic line up all day --
Rose Hill Drive (3 peice) young GOOD american rock band bit Humble pie'ish
Casbah Club(Jam meets police) well good
The Answer (very Led Zepp'esque) young Irish band
The Eels (WOW Brilliant) nuff said
The Zutons (loads better live than on the radio)
Flaming Lips (what a stage show!! WoW)
And top of and EXCEPTIONAL bill THE WHO.....
Zak Starkey is a FINE drummer.
The two old boys up front CAN STILL CUT IT,
Did classics and clips from new Rock Opera... Sand & Glass I think limited CD out now.
fantastic day and great crowd We were about 20 rows from the front right in the middle AWESOME all day. modern stacks really do it now.
Great experience taking my rock loving girls 19 & 21 to see one of "dads old rock bands",A generation apart but they both were WELL impressed, and added some classic tracks from my collection onto their Ipods!!!
Some serious fans there too, a few Mods straight from cover of Quadraphenia ... Lambretta with mirrors as well, and an ageing chap my era circa 50+ tattoos all over... left calf RIP Moonie, right calf RIP The OX, shoulders Pintables, RAF roundals, song titles & various Tommy pics on chest and arms, still some spare slots for future RIP's!!!!?
A few years since I went to anything this big but well worth the wait........ mind you the Bogs were NAFF!!! old age Eh?
Cheers Mike
