Hey guys, seems like I see a lot of NJ and Philly guys here lately. Would anyone be up for a trip to Northern NJ? We could ride the Hawk's nest, or just some other roads people know, whatever. I'm not psyched about riding my bike thru the city, but it's been done a few times. Even if it is just for an afternoon and we grab a burger and hang, ya know? Not lookin for a full on rally here... Let's toss some ideas around!

You're on Benny! There are a number of us within 50+/- miles of New York.

Once you into the part of NJ west of Route 287 and north of Route 78 you're into some nice riding territory. Crossing over into NY or PA is easily done too.

FYI Depending on where you're headed from LI, I've gone so far as to cut up to the Tappan Zee bridge and take 87/287 into NJ to avoid the horrific Cross Bronx.

Yeah I was thinking about that. I'd also consider taking the ferry to CT just to go around But on a saturday morning, riding over the Throggs neck, then up the Hutch and over won't be bad.

So yeah, start thinking about dates.
I am busy the next 3 weekends. I think I'm free the first weekend in August, busy my birthday (12th), but nothing planned after that. Here's hoping we find a fairly cool weekend. This 90 deg sh|t is brutal...

Benny, I'm booked this weekend and August 4th but other than that so far so good.

I'm in as long as my schedule doesn't get too hectic. The 4th - 6th I'm back in PA helping my mom move into her new house. After that I'm pretty good. I've made probably 5 or 6 trips up to Hawk's Nest this year from the city, and it's not a bad ride at all.

Erwin, you and I work only a few miles apart. If we can also get Benny on a day he's in NJ we're golden. Did you make it out to Long Valley this week?

I'll have to get back to you on that. Driving thru/around the city during the week sucks too...

I'm interested in going, I'm screwed on the next three wekkends although I'm going up to check out the Toymaker this Sunday morning. The first three weekens in Aug. are open Brenden leaves for shool the last week of Aug..

Hey Kev, Just got in from a nice 3 hr country ride with my wife. i didnt bother to go Tuesday because the weather was cra py.

We'll make it work. Dont need you to burden sucky NYC traffic. Youll hate us for ever

This weekend and next are bad for me, but I'm free any weekend from Aug 19th till the nor'east rally.

I'm free this weekend but I think I'll be spending it trying to figure out what is wrong with my signals... I'm thinking the weekend of the 19th also for now.

Benny & Mark, however you choose is up to you but coming from the Island you can save your butt some grief by heading over the Tappan Zee.

I guess how far west you're willing to come is the question. Benny, as a gauge I'm about 100 miles from Happague.

You guys pick a place. There's always a chance I can't make it anyway, so it is best that it works best for you guys. If the weather is anything like it has been lately, I doubt I'll last all day. I'm looking into a cooling vest but don't have one yet, and my signals are still whacky... Anywhoo, you pick. It'll be a long ride for me no matter what, so I'd be comming more for the meet n greet than the riding anyway.

I found out that I may be riding up to MA and spending the weekend at a lake house on the Otis Res. I'll keep you posted.

My dad and I try to make it up once every august to visit a friend of ours and mooch off of him for a weekend.

If I'm not mistaken, that's up rt8 from CT, just over the MA border.
As a kid, I've snow ski'd Otis Ridge in the winter, and water ski'd Otis Res. in the summer.

Why don’t you and some of the Jersey boy’s ride south and meet up with our group at the restaurant in Pennsylvania for the Cheese Steak Run? When we do the long route it takes us a good 3 and a half hours for the trip into PA. I’d think it’s about the same for you northern guys coming south. Why not try to hook up with us at the restaurant and meet some more of your southern brothers and have some really good food & drink to boot. Just a thought….

I'll keep it in mind. If it weren't for the fact that it's a good two hour slab ride for me just to get clear of the NY madness, I'd jump on it!

Benny, that's part of the problem around here, you often have to ride a long ways just to get clear riding. I want to go south but dread the time on the NJ Turnpike.

Yeah I hear ya. The NJ Pike is ok when there's NO traffic on it once you get south of the city...
