You're on Benny! There are a number of us within 50+/- miles of New York.
Once you into the part of NJ west of Route 287 and north of Route 78 you're into some nice riding territory. Crossing over into NY or PA is easily done too.
FYI Depending on where you're headed from LI, I've gone so far as to cut up to the Tappan Zee bridge and take 87/287 into NJ to avoid the horrific Cross Bronx.
