Today is our 3rd anniversary. Spent our first apart due to work demands. For our second she got 3 of my buddies plane tix and had them come visit me for a weekend. This year as her gift to me she bought herself a helmet and agreed to climb on the back of the Speedy for a ride once in awhile.
Maybe as my gift to her, I'll get a sissy bar...

A sissy bar WILL make her feel more comfortable (my wife HATES riding without one)...if shes comfy she may ride with you more often.... now you have to decide if thats a good thing or not...

Yea...that sissy bar is a must for a passenger. The comfort zone for them increases exponentially with a sissy bar.
She can lean back into it instead of hugging you. Increases the overall sense of "good karma"

And if you decide to go for the Triump sissybar be sure to get the Tall one. No sense buying the short one as you'll find SWMBO complaining its too short.

Rev, Sounds like you have a pretty generous wife. It also sounds like she may have a fairly cheap husband. Why not make ammends and get her her very own Speedmaster.

Passenger comfort improvement system on the way!
I'd love to get her an America/Speedy. She's working on her Masters degree now and I've told her that if/when she is ready to learn to ride I'd be happy to get her one for graduation. She isn't ready now and isn't sure she'd like to drive as opposed to ride with me. My hope is that in a year and a half ... graduation time... she'll be excited about it. If not, I'll be more than happy to have her go 2 up with me.
My daily mantra used to be "don't get married, don't have kids". I rarely say/think that anymore. After 3 years of marriage I'm still convinced women and men are wired completely different and speak different languages that just happen to sound alike. We work on understanding each other. She puts up with me and my antics. She is an amazing woman. I can't ask any more than that.

Actually looks like I'll be taking a long ride solo to pick up our (apparently the Speedy went from "mine" to "ours" when she got the helmet) new Triumph tall sissybar/rack. I went back through the archives for the last year and didn't see an answer to this question.
What tools do I need to take with me to install the rack where I'm picking it up? I've got a 2 hour ride each way. I just ran out in the pouring rain to look at the fender bolts. I imagine the bolts that come with the rack are the same size (head) as the one's I'll be removing, so one box wrench and 15 minutes in a parking lot should be all I need yes? Don't want to get there and find out I should have brought another spanner.
Finally, it looks like I may want/need to trim up the ends of the bolts when I get home so that they don't stick out too far and tear up my tire... is that correct?

Head size is the same on the new bolts.
Don't know if the luggage rack comes pre-assembled but there are 4 bolts/nuts for that also. Take a couple of 8/10/12mm wrenches/sockets with you. I 'think' they are 10mm but am not positive.
