tcv, I recently heard that Triumph has been able to get the twin cyl. engine to meet the upcoming very strict European smog test limits with carburetors!
Wish I had more info on this.
This is both good and bad news. I say "good" because carbs allow owners to easily change jetting to compensate for the various mods they do to their engines. FI winds up being more expensive for the manufacturer to use, so using carbs will help Triumph keep the sales price down on the whole Bonny line.
And I say "bad" because FI, especially for street driven vehicles, can allow more power to be made, and improve mid range throttle driveability (read: no hesitation). The additional power can come from a larger throttle bore than a carb because FI doesn't rely on air flow (pressure drop) to draw fuel into the air stream.
