Guys, I ride to work 27 miles each way, daily, and I ride pretty fast and aggressively. I switched to the reserve tank on my TBA at 165 miles today and was wondering what the consensus is for everyone else. If you don't mind, how far do you typically get on a full tank before switching to the reserve? I am curious as to where my bike stands...

130 while commuting (30 miles a day). Routinely 170 on the highway. A short of 90 with a huge headwind, uphill, pushing a windscreen.

"Actual mileage may vary"
I've hit reserve at a low of 135 and a high of 160. Low end seems to accompany short hops and frequent start-ups - Highs come with longer rides. Somehow, contrary to usual thinking, seems that riding style (fast/slow/easy/aggressive) has less impact than I would expect. Some of my best numbers have been at brisk speeds and long distance.

I'm doing about 160 on the nose before switching to reserve riding mostly backroads and highway miles. It's kind of where I thought it should be , I like to ride pretty hard also.

That's pretty good. I get about 145 to reserve. I usually get gas around 120 or 130 though.

I made it to 145 this weekend. Pretty good for me. By the way, miles per tank is going to depend a lot on how full people fill up at the pump. MPG is more accurate and has been talked about a lot lately.

You gotta be sh!tting me. I've never been close to that, even when my bike was stock and even using the whole tank.

135 generally before reserve. Wow, some of you guys, that right hand thingy, if you twist it the bike goes faster lol.
I have no clue how some of you are getting over 50 MPG

I haven't had to put gas in mine for 2 months. I haven't ridden it. But I do believe about 140 was as far as I have gone. Hadn't hit reserve yet.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger......and then it hit me.

130 to 160, but I usually fill it at around 100 just to be safe.

I normally get about 45 mpg. Commuting and running errands, etc. Went on a 200+ mile ride Sunday and got 60 mpg. And a lot of that ride was up and down the mountains of W.Va.

I also try to fill up around 120. One thing I have noticed from working on the bike and draining the tank is that the Pingle reserve holds right at 1 gallon of gas. This is probably more than the stock petcock/valve.

I have a 3 week old '06 TBA (no mods...yet). On my last two rides I had to hit the reserve at 157 and 162. Both times a combination of back roads and highway.
'06 TBA - Black, AI and Snorkel removed, K&N Drop In, Gutted Stock Pipes, 145/42, 2 turns out.

Last Spring Jaymo went from Virginia to Georgia, back to New York without refilling at all! Top that. Ok, I've had too many brews, I'm ready for bed. "Finally" the peanut galley responds.

I hit the reserve between 140 and 150 miles. I have gotten 50 mpg once but it is usually 40 to 43mpg. I have Bub slash cuts with jetting, TBS needles, A.I. and snorkle removed (and a heavy hand ). Dan

I bought my 06 TBA in June and I have 999 miles on her. I have a company car and save every gas receipt for expense proposes.
I'm not anal just habit so I have every gas receipt for my bike I added everything up and I have put in 20.94 gallons that equates out to 47.7 miles per gallon.
I live in NW CT so it is all hills, I have somewhere around 200 of the 1000 miles on the highway, but even on the highway around here either you are going up or going down.
My bike is stock (still waiting for my AI kit and related parts from Brents three weeks now). Although I just removed the rear baffles yesterday.

I am with FriarJohn, I don't get anywhere near that kind of mileage on my bike. I checked it the other day and filled her up and 101 miles later I was switching to reserve. I have 145 mains and 45 pilots in it now. I know I am running just a tad rich and may switch out my pilots first. When I installed my 45 pilots I noticed that there were 44 pilots in it already. The dealer must have installed the 44's when they installed the TOR's before I picked it up. I am not the easiest on the throttle but I wouldn't mind getting a few more MPG's out of her. I am really wanting to add cams and some different carbs, already installed the big bore, was happy for a couple days and now I am looking for more. Just can't get enough, Rocket III is definitely in the future but won't get rid of the old TBA.

I must be the heavy hand of the bunch, I hit reserve today at 93.7 miles, which is like 26mpg. The best I've seen is around 117.

I'm only getting about 115 miles before hitting the reserve. I'm pretty sure I fill the fuel tank consistently which is about 3 gallons, so 38-39mpg is what I get. Then again, I maybe still breaking in the engine since I only have 483 miles on her. Still all stock.

I originally filled the tank to the inner ring with the bike on the kickstand. My kickstand seems to have a little more tilt than most I've seen (don't know why). Anyway, I now sit on the bike and hold it upright and fill to the inner ring. I now consistantly get more than 20 additional miles before hitting reserve. I've also recently figured out that my odometer reads about 10% less miles than traveled. Add that in and I'm way better than originally thought.

My commute to work is seventeen miles one way @ an average speed of 50 miles per hour give or take a few.
I always fill the tank well topped off while leaning on the kickstand .....before riding home. I fill it until the gas is just lapping the top of the inner ring.
I had to switch to reserve at 150.4 miles the other day.

Pretty consistently hit reserve around 95 to 100 miles. I sit on the bike to hold it level while refilling and fill it all the way up - usually around 3 gallons. Roughly 33 miles per gallon. I should take it a little easier, I guess... NOT!

Did a little over 210 miles yesterday after getting the AI removed on Saturday. I hit reserve at 159... still consistent between 157 and 162. I've got just over 1300 miles on her so far in 4 weeks... only mod is the AI removal. I fill the same way every time... sit level and fill till I see gas in the bottom of the fill throat.

I have an '06 TBA with jet kit and louder Triumph silencers. In the Texas suburban hillcountry, I hit reserve about 140. Last tank was in the country with lots of hills and curves and got 48. Before that, all town was 44. Lowest ever was 37.

Usually between 140 and 160 miles before reserve, depending on conditions, but went 189 last weekend on a trip to Virginia Beach. 54 mpg going, 52 mpg coming home. Highway only miles really make a difference in mpg. I used to fill up with the bike on the sidestand, but now sit on the bike upright and fill.

Mixed riding to work, etc., hit reserve around 145. Mainly highway and fast...reserve at 155. Go figure.
