I used Bike Brite and S100 and dried with a leaf blower...on my Harley (sold)...the back motor became gray using the S100 so I switched to Bike Brite...no problems with Bike Brite...at the end I switched over to the Mister Clean system adn dried with the leaf blower...The Miste Clean worked the best...but I never was one to spend hours cleaning the bike...so my bikes are always less chrome and easy to clean or not clean....

I use my 16 year old son. Bought him a bike too (so we could ride together). When we get home from a ride he washes and waxes his and mine. Does a pretty good job!

Used Simple Green and a hose because someone posted it somewhere. Never washed the engine since new, 11,600 miles ago. Worked pretty good, but left a residue on some of the painted parts (exhaust hangers, etc.).

Undiluted Simple Green can cause piting in metal and is not safe for many painted surfaces. I used it initially (worked great) until I heard about the negative aspects. S-100 can also be caustic. Bike Brite or similar products designed for ALL motorcycle surfaces (read the labels carefully) works almost as good and you don't have to worry about damaging your bike.

I don't know where you heard that, but i've been using simple green for many many years on everything you can imagine and never once say any negitive issues like that. It a mild organic cleaners thats probably less problematic than nearlky anything. I can't imagine it pitting metal ! Maybe if you leave a puddle of it on metal for days, but then so would water. If this is true, then i've been INCREDIBLY lucky !

By the way, i think lonzo is refering to my post at RAT where i said i spary my bike down with simple green and hose it off. I use automotive SG and literally soak the bike with it, leaving of course the obvious areas like under the tank and such. The grease flows off like a black river, then i hose it off and it's so friggin clean you'd be amazed. then i go over it with detailer (Maxima silicone detailer and regular car detailer) and the entire think takes me about 20-30 minutes and literally leaves the bike looking cleaner than new. Looks like a new bike would w/o the cosmoline. Can't see the details in a pic, but it's so clean you can tell it's sterile even in this pic taken right after.

Only teasing, how bout we pay a kid 5 bucks to clean the bike (if we can find one) and we both watch a game with a beer in hand!
Risk surrounds everything worth having.

Dazco, there's alot of info about Simple Green on this forum. You can search under "Simple Green" and follow the threads. Here is a link to a USAF study that concluded NOT to use Simple Green (even diluted) on aluminum surfaces. http://www.avweb.com/other/usaf0020b1.pdf

Hmmm....interesting. However, like i said i've been using it forever on everything w/o a single problem. But i use simple green "automotive" on my bike which i would think must be different since it's made for the purpose. Maybe the metal issue is WHY it's different. And it's only on the bike a few minutes before it gets hosed off. Anyways, i paid me nickel, i takes me chances.
