I'm just retired as of this week. I was promising myself a long ride this summer and I don't see any reason not to leave today.
I've always wanted to visit St Louis for no good reason. Something about the gateway arch, the 1904 world's fair, the lewis and clark expedition and maybe an elvis movie.
It's about 2000 km from here so i'm figuring on four easy days each way. The first day will be through Ontario to Sarnia where I'll cross the border into michigan north of detroit. Don't have a route picked out from there but I'd like to maybe hit the track of route 66 south of chicago somewhere but generally stick to backroads.
Still have to relube the chain and finish packing but i'll be on my way shortly. Suggestions and donations of canned goods are welcome.
