Never gave it much thought, but I assume by Ton Up (on THAT side of the pond) you mean 160 KMs/HR?

Maybe it's the humidity. I can get there, but I need a good stretch of road to do it, and especially if I'm to run her up to 110 mph...that's about the limit. Made a long run not long after installing the 18t rear sprocket, and found I could go faster in 4th (but the gas mileage S*CKED). Hit reserve at 91 miles I think. Trying to run WFO in 5th I hit reserve at about 120 miles, but she just didn't want to much more than 90 mph. Since then I've had the carb needles shimmed (I drilled the air filter and air box bottom first), and she's game for 100 a bit easier, but I know there is not much left after that. Still running stock exhaust, so I know that makes a difference, too.

It amazes me how many bike reviews I read in CYCLE WORLD about bikes that easily do 135 mph, and a lot do more than that. Does anybody really need (or use) that kind of top-end?
