Leonard, my tires had 9600 on them when I switched out, could have easily gotten another 1000 on them, but oh well. Running the recommended 36 / 36 Front and Rear has not given me any cause for complaints, I would tend to agree with the comment above about 40 sounding a tad high. When in doubt, go with the owner's manual :-)
