OK OK enough! Chy has beaten me verbally enough already. The reason I have not started the official thread before is I am not sure where I am going to be living in September. My house has been on the market and we have a contingent offer on another house (about 10 miles away) and I didn't want to post an address, since I'm still not sure ...
So, the dates are:
September 21 through September 24th. I am off the day before so earlybirds are welcome.
Location:
(Tentative address, I will change if needed)
5134 Parrish Street Extension
Canandaigua NY 14424
Thursday is arrival day, short rides around the closer lakes, pick up airport guests, drink beer, some more rides, some more beers etec. We'll make a trip dowmn to MacGregors for samples of the local microbrews, they have about 80 on tap and 80 or more in bottles. It's also walking distance from the house on Parrish Street, about a mile, if you're concerned. Designated drivers are also available. Food will probably be the regular pizza/wing order with everyone chipping in for the grub.
Friday will be ride the Watkins Glen Race Track day. This event will be only about an hour, but we get to ride three whole laps around the track, at $10 per bike. They said we have to maintain street legal speeds and passing is NOT allowed. I am assuming they will have some sort of chase vehicle supervising these rules. Lawyers, ya know? (No offence to Becky). We have a scheduled time of noon to 1pm for the track. It is about 50 miles from me and takes about an hour to get there via the scenic route. We will have lunch in Watkins Glen aftrewards, hopefully at the Seneca Lodge. This is a pretty cool place, like a scaled down TWO lodge, but with road racing as the theme. Very old and rustic place with good brew too. Afterwards, will be tech time back at the house and maybe another run to Niagara Falls for those that have never been there. If you have not been to see Niagara Falls, definetly go for that, it is awsome, especially from the Canadian side (Yota is not allowed to go this year) Friday eve we'll get a good spot for dinner picked out and that will be determined at a later date. This is big Italian town, maybe some Italian food will be in order.
Saturday is big ride day. Breakfast down by the lake will be first stop. We will mosey around the Finger Lakes Region which is very scenic in the fall. Maybe another stop into the Glen Curtis Museum for the people that missed last years visit. This is a motorcycle and aviation museum in Hammondsport, about 40 miles from the house. Then some more twisty roads, more lakes, watch out for the deer!!!
Saturday night will be the main drink-a-thon, barbeque and bonfire, can you say "Whoomp?" Last years guests know what that means, I like fires! Bigger the better! I am planning on brewing up some more of the infamous Speedmaster Red A$$ Amber Ale and maybe a few more, depends on time. Matt and I practiced last night and made up 10 gallons to sample later this month. Tad also mentioned maybe having his band come over and play for us too. That would be pretty cool too. If not, I got some guitars, a little electric piano and lots of tunes.
Sunday final day, say goodbyes, maybe have breakfast before you hit the road, hang out soem more if you want, I got nothing to do but recover from Saturday night.
So, that's the tentative schedule, subject to change as required due to weather and unforseen stuff.
Lodging There are a few rooms available at my house and there are several nice hotels in the area. Plenty of room for campers as well. Don't sweat hotel reservations, I will also check out securing the Lafayette Hotel that a lot of the guys stayed in last year. A decent, and cheap, hotel only a short hop down the road. They don't really take reservations, no web site, and they close the office at noon. A real laid back spot though and plenty clean and close enough. With the other hotels in the area, as well as several other members living close by, there should be no need to reserve rooms. But feel free if you wish. There is a Super 8, The Canandaigua Lodge etc etc. A google search will come up with tons of places. Rooms go from $30 to $300. I will post a list after i do some searching for you'all. Stay away from the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake though, it's a decent place but very pricey for average rooms. And when they say you get a room with "Water View", they usually mean the pool, or the outlet on the west side. Very deceptive.
So, sign up so I can get a rough headcount.
C ya!!

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.
