Take the money and use the offer to rectify your initial mistake by getting the speedmaster ! I'M KIDDING I'M KIDDING I'M KIDDING !!! (hope thats enough so you know I'M KIDDING !! Sorry, it was too easy.

But seriously, take the money and buy a new one. There is no reason not to and plenty why you should. Why are you opposed to this anyways? The question of the dealer's work alone would have me doing that. Not that i know your dealer and how good/bad they are. But as far as i'm concerned dealer service should be considered guilty till proven innocent. Why chance it when they are offering you such a great offer that lets you start over ?

I don't know what that means. Apparently a starter gear fell off and rattled around, damaging other stuff. They're replacing it all, including the case.

That is what can possibly happen if you don't put the little springy washer back in right. or if they did the clutch springs and "forgot" to put the little starter gear shaft back in too. They busticated it originally I would bet. There is no possible way that gear can fall off without help.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

Well, I'm happy that your back to square one. It looks like a 50/50 draw as to keep it or get your money back. You made your mind up and went with the repair, along with alot of good input from everyone, now put it behind you and enjoy your ride.

Good luck.

Glad to hear you got your bike back. Hope you have better luck with it this time around.

it was a sprag clutch problem?

Dwight can tell you what a sprag clutch problem is, right Dwight?

This was a common enough problem on some of the earlier Triumphs. Dwight's 1995(?) Sprint sounds absolutely horrible when he tries to start it. It was almost embarassing riding around with him up in Prescott the first time I met him.

Sounds like a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning build at Hinckley.

Take the cash or open the box, decisions, decisions
