Three things to say about rejetting my carbs tonight...

1. If I ever meet the guy that decided thoses brass float bowl screws were a good idea I'm going to pimp slap him.
2. If I ever meet Pat (Dinqua) in person, I'm going to kiss him on the mouth (Pat, be glad I can't make it to GA for the rally )
3. I've discovered that anytime you drop a screw/bolt/socket while working on a bike it will always, always fall and bounce to the opposite side of the bike.

Or wedge itself into some inaccessible crevice. Hopefully you replaced the carb bowl screws with the allen heads screws? Turns the ordeal of jet changes into about a 15 minute process, leaving you much more time to find Pat!

I am really glad you won't be making it to Ga. Had me scared for a minute.
I guess that saying about Texas may be slightly acurate after all, "Nothing in Texas but steers and...."

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

Hmmmm, how to address this development....
-------------------------------------------

Another thing I've learned. If you spread a towel/cloth/whatever under the carbs or under/around the 'project that has many small and/or springy parts' nothing will go bouncing across the floor into the various black holes, never to be seen again.

If you don't, everything ends up there!!!

Throb, I did replace the brass screws with stainless allen heads. I now know why everybody said to do so.

Dinqua, all kidding aside, thank you for the carb jetting website. I couldn't have done it without your help. You are certainly appreciated.

Are you guys talking about the carb screws with the extentions? Or just standard screws but with allen heads? I see both are available.

I just used the standard allen head screws. One set came with my pipes, but I also have a set of carb screws that my father got from newbonneville.com.

I have seen the extended finger screws you were talking about though. They would be nice to have if you were doing alot of tweaking of your performance settings. I would think after you got things the way you wanted them you would want to go back to the standard allen head screws.

Those bras screw do strip out easily, but the SS bolts will chew out the threaded hole they go into if you are not careful!!

Benny,
Thanks for pointing that out. I'll be careful if I have to pull them again in the future.

No prob, I felt one starting to go when I re-jetted last... So I just stopped, and was REAL careful with the other 3 on that cover.

"Those bras screw do strip out easily..." I asked my wife about this, but she said she'd never heard of them. All of her bras have metal clasps of some sort, or even plastic ones!

Maybe it's a "back east" thing......
