Guys I'm considering some aftermarket grips. Lots of people have given praise to slightly larger, cushier grips for long term comfort. Only thing is, I like my bar end caps!! Do any of these companies offer grips that do NOT cover the ends of the bars? Thanks! Benny

Benny Iso grips have removable ends I don't know if the bars will project thru them I'll check soon and let you know!

I think you might need longer screws if you remove the iso end caps to replace them with the triumph end caps. The iso grips are longer than the stock grips.

I have Brent's end caps. The screws are wicked long... No worries there. Ok so Iso grips are an option. Let me know what you find, Rob, maybe snap a pic with the end off?

I just slid my ISO's on further onto the bar (took that stupid spacer and tossed it) even with the bar wiring I still had enough room to loosen the controls and slide them home

Ok heres the deal... I just went out and pulled the ISO end off the end of the ISO grip is held on with 4 small allen head bolts around the outside parimeter of the grip it is also a thicker grip (larger diameter) than a stock grip is
I then took my stock bar end and screwed it into the bar end No reach issues with the stock screw...
but the centering "button" on the stock bar end is larger (about 5/8") than the ISO centering "button" (about 1/2")
so the button holds the end off from seating...this could be easily fixed by enlarging the hole on the ISO grip...
the end of the ISO grip is flat (with the 5 holes drilled thru it 1 for the centering button and the four forementioned bolt holes) and chromed...so the difference in the diameters might leave a bit of the flat section showing...but because it's chrome I dont think that would be a huge issue...I would have snapped some pics but my digi cam is DOA at the moment

Thanks, I think I see what you mean. I think I'll have to see one in person I'm also considering just bigger black rubber grips as an option.

Benny, like SalMaglie and Dazco, I got a pair of Beston GT grips off of ebay, though I hadn't had a chance to install them before my bike went to reside in the Dealership's shop. Since they're about 1/2 an inch too long, the ends are best cut off, and look like they'll be completely compatible with the stock bar-end weights.

With the bestons i measured, figured out how much must come off. Then i found a couple sockets that fit perfectly in the ends (each grip of course a different inside diameter) and pushed the socket into the end till it stopped right where the cut was to be made. That way you can used the edge of the socket to guide a single edge razor to make a perfect cut. Use some lube of some type tho because the grips are very sticky and the blade won't glice theu the rubber easily w/o it. Makes for nice clean and accurate cuts.

Cool thanks guys. I'll check em out... I do have some Switchblade pegs, so I kinda like the idea of the iso grips just for continuity, but hey, comfort is paramount.

Benny, Why? Is it just becuse you want to use your existing end caps or for bar-end mirrors? You would be better off using the ends that come on the new grips. just seems wierd not to?

I like my union jack bar ends I may go with just a larger rubber grip for comfort.

Hmm, have no idea Benny, I think that's where everyone has gotten them from. Let me look for my receipt to scam the name of the outfit.

Thanks. Are they the same as the grips that BC and Brent sell?

Ok, Benny, just dug out the receipt, try: Classic Cycle Parts 4159 Lyman Dr. Hilliard, OH 43026 www.classiccycleparts.comThe receipt describes NOS British Triumph BSA Beston Gran Tourismo Grips 5.25" long for 1" bar. Looking at the pics on Brent's website, these are not the same grips, these Beston Grips have a flange at the inboard end like the OE grips do, they have the same general shape as what Brent / Mike sells, but have a different exterior pattern. Hope this helps.

So I see that particular grip doesn't have a "buy it now" tag on it, do you just place a starting bid and wait?

Yeah, but at least you'll possibly save a few bucks. Not sure why, but every time the action ends it comes back but is sometimes buy now and sometimes not. Look at all his grip auctions tho because i didn't really look at them all. I just copied the link to the first beston one i saw that was the right length, but there may be an identical one with a buy it now on it.

I just bid on another pair of 1" grips. Its weird that I have to wait 3 days to actually buy it! Random... I wonder why he doesn't do "buy it now" on some things?
Awe crap I just found a buy it now one. Oh well. I'll wait and see how this one goes.

Won the item. Gonna be here in a few days. Not if it would only drop below, say 80 for an hour I could actually get something done

I've had my Beston GT grips on for close to 3 years and over 30,000 miles. For me they're the most comfortable grip I've ever felt. They also go well with the fork gaiters.

Hey you guys with Beston grips.
I got mine on the throttle side last night, and the flange at the inner edge doesn't sit flush because of those little tabs on the throttle sleeve. What did you guys do? Pull it on farther?

My Beston throttle grip comes up against those tabs close enough that you can't even tell something doesn't fit right. Or at least close enough for me. The grip hasn't moved since I put it on so no worries about it sliding off.

Yes I'm finally putting on those caps I know it has been a while, but my summer has really sucked so far!! Not much time. And the bars are BC Sport Bars. I think they will give me a position very similar to a speedmaster, but with America risers, and slightly wider (34"). And look the buisness. It is taking me a while because I am doing the internal bar wiring (for the 3rd time). The are also moving everything forward, so I think I need to re-re-route the throttle cables back to the left side, and maybe send the top banjo bolt of the brake line over that little tab on the housing instead of under. I need to bleed them anyway... I'll do a full on write up.

Those bars sound nice. After my 130 mile ride yesterday I started thinking about a setup more like what you're putting on, but maybe with a little more pullback. Wouldn't look right though with the Speedmaster's 4 inch risers. Looking forward to the pics and the feedback on the Thruxton caps.

See I'm just the opposite... I don't like the tall risers. I like the low look. I'll do my best to get pics up today. Lunch time is over! Need to go get some more butane for my soldering iron.

Oh, I'm not so partial to the tall risers myself, at least the stock ones with their shape and brushed aluminum look. It's just that new bars and risers would do a hit to my wallet it can't take right now. And then what if I didn't like them? Actually I was thinking of doing the Harley Deuce risers with the Speedmaster bars. I like the looks of them, and they aren't that bad in price($69). But from what I've read on here, to get the Deuce risers to look right you have to have your top yoke machined with some larger holes so they fit right. Just another thing added to the list of "someday".

I hear ya. My bars were only $35 and I'm using the stock risers. A teeny tiny bit of the knurling of the bars shows next to the risers, so someday I may get a pair of Brent's risers to cover it, but like you said... someday.
