Funny thing happened when I had my bike at the dealer last week.My dealers old service manager told me there was nothing he could do about my warped front rotor. Yea I know just like Adey. Well they have a new guy in there now, and when I got my normal service done he said to me "maybe I can get that rotor covered under good will" now this thing is long out of warrenty so I thought no chance. I get a call today saying I go it covered. Now I know Adey has been on this for years, I didnt even ask and the dude gets it done for me All the bad things I have said about my dealer I got to say Akron Cleveland Honda did me right today. Imglad I bought my wifes bike there too

Don't be mentioning front rotors ...
Ray Birch (birchr) has an e-mail from some bod high up in warranty which says (I'm paraphrasing here), until they find the reason for the warping on some bikes, Triumph will continue to swap front rotors - even on bikes out of warranty.
Obviously I don't know about other countries, but I also recall being told that for ongoing, known faults, the fault must be rectified for (I believe) 7 years - get this - by the dealer!!
Good luck with yours ... oh yeah ... mine is warped again!
At least the ST has twin floating discs upfront

Customer Service is all about someone going just one step, not even a mile, further than the next guy to "capture" a customer...
Good for your Dealer and good for you. Hopefully they won't spoil his customer service enthusiasm any time soon...

Be sure to try to get the warped one back so you can make a clock like the cool kids.

My dealer here replaced mine as well, although not without some "no sorry, brake parts arent' warrantable" discussions taking place. Only the left side warped beyond acceptable limits, but they replaced them both. Service manager said he'd never seen a rotor warp, let alone Triumph cover one under warranty. Did take them 2 weeks for authorization and repair. A couple days after I picked it up, the dealer had their open house. Talking to the tech who fixed mine, he said the same day I picked up, an America stopped in for service with one warped worse than mine, rider didn't even mention it to them! They fixed his too he said. Nice to be a trendsetter (sortof), having Adey's and other stories in my head for backup certainly didn't hurt.
Cheers, Mike

Jeez. What crap was he riding before to think this was acceptable?? When these things start warping, the pulsing feeling is pretty wierd to say the least.

Is there anyone up the food chain at Triumph that could verify the rotor fix even after warranty? My front skids are in need of a fix, but I know that my local supermarket dealer wouldn't even give me the time of day being that the bike is out of warranty (not by much though, it's an '04). It would help if I could show them an e-mail or give a name to call to verify things.
Cheers, Brad

Letter dated 15th December 2005
I quote, from Mark Swepson (Warranty Department)
We would like to confirm that the quality department and our supplier are currently investigating the braking concerns discussed during your call to our department. We would ask you to note that our warranty will not be extended but our support will be maintained until such time as our supplier completes their enquiry.
Now you have to ask yourself has the supplier completing their enquiry
You have a chance of replacement through Trading Standards, especially if like myself you have had endless trouble with the front disc/rotor, but it would mean taking Triumph through the small claims court Who is going to be the first

I decided that I would write a letter to Triumph about the rotors (and paint chips on the fuel fill), and in doing so, I ran across the paperwork from the original owner which was stuck in the owners manual. Turns out that my bike is still under warranty until March of next year! So I called the local dealer and asked about the rotors and got the familar 'brake parts aren't covered' bit.. didn't even get around to asking about the tank. Hopefully, the letter I shot off to Triumph will get some results. Seems some have had success with Palm Beach Triumph, which I guess I'll contact as well. My local dealer is a 'supermarket' store that sells every brand under the sun and is definately not a Triumph specific dealer or service location.
It's got to the point that the front bucks like a rodeo steer and the front brakes are completely useless on loose or wet roads. Back brake pads are now gone after a little more than 8,000 miles as well, so it's a good time to get them all fixed at the same time.
I'll post any response I get from Triumph on the situation.
Cheers, Brad

The front rotors (at least one of them anyway) were warped on my bike. My dealer didn't have any problem getting Triumph to replace both of them under warranty.

I try to avoid the local dealer like the plague for many reasons.. it's worth the drive for me to take the bike into someone who actually works on these things a lot instead of 'only when the have to' Cheers, Brad

What do Front Rotors cost and is the dealership the only place to get them?

My bike's well out of warranty but I've just been approved yet another front rotor as goodwill after only around 1500 mile since last replacement. Nothing too major, but the dreaded pulsing had started to return again. After getting it checked out, dealer reckoned most probable cause is slight wheel buckle but not entirely sure. Can’t recall anything I might have done to cause this though, had a couple of rear shunts in the past but unlikely to effect front wheel I would have thought? Has it been dodgy right from the start...? Thanks Ray for your mails. They talked to Mark Swepson but doesn’t look like Triumph will honour replacement wheel for me, but at least a new rotor. Getting it fitted next week and hoping it’ll see me through Eurotrip but there's the question of what happens when it goes again... Unfortunately isn’t enough time to get wheel sent off for straightening before I go, was debating ordering new wheel but am a bit reluctant in case it isn’t the cause and am back to square one. Mentioned the question of calliper quality but that was dismissed. Considering EBC disk/ floating setup in the future but am informed will still have problems if wheel is buckled...so I don’t know Anyway will worry about it when I return...

My 05 America has 16,500 miles and the front rotor has been replaced twice. At 6,000 miles I considered the bucking at slow speed (pulsating at hi speed) a safety issue. The dealer in Palm Bay, Fl had it replaced by Triumph under warranty with no problem. By 9,00 the rear pads were shot. I pulled the front to check them and notice metel to metel wear on the front caliper. By then I was getting some sign of uneven wear on the front rotor again. The dealer checked it out and said the front axle was bent. I had never so much as hit a pot hole with it and was very surprised. The Service Manager agreed that since the were no signs of rim or fork damage, I hadn't caused the problem. It took several months to get a replacement axle, which suggests that Triumph may have been working on a replacement for a known problem. The rotor, axle, caliper and pads were all replcaed on warranty with no resistance at 12,000 miles in March, 2006. Now, at 16,500 there is noticable uneven wear again, but not to the point that I will go for further support, unless it gets worse. My warranty is good to March, 2007.
