Ok this is as good a place to rant about this evening as any, and I apologise in advance....
I did my place of employment a favour. I enjoy my job and do favours for them as I get them in return. (I should have been on a really $hit job on Sunday, but they've given me a nicer one instead). [oh and for those who don't now I'm a Guard on the Railway]
This evening I've been on quite a long day, but it was what is usually a simple train out of London. I check tickets and can be a mean cow if you don't have one. The whole "It's expensive to buy one on the train" routine, but being a girl I get away with it. This evening someone decided they didn't want to pay. Well they did, to the second station. After they'd told me they wanted the 3rd station....Being the mean cow that I am, and having a sneaking suspicion that he was not going to get off, I walked back to ensure he got off. He saw me and instantly 'fell asleep'. Funny that eh??
He was not going to pay, but was just as adamant he was not getting off. And got aggressive. I walked away. Travelling without a ticket is a criminal offence....I think it is in most places. I spoke to a manager, and ended up calling 999 to get police involved. After 20 minutes and a secondary call to see where the hell they are, a solitary policeman shows up. I'd told them he was agressive, and 20 minutes.... The policeman (even a Sarge) spends a further 5 minutes trying to get me to take him on to where he wants to go!!! And the arsehole is still not prepared to pay!!!
It is minor stuff really, but I'm paid to ensure several things. One is the safety of everything to do with that train. I have this bloke who is aggressive and liable to blow his lid at any mo. And the policeman want to enclose him in a tin can.
Can you all see why I didn't want to take him any further???
I know I'm in a position where I take the rough with the smooth and this really happens less to me than you think, but when it does and then the authorities don't seem to give a $hit, it gets to me.
I'm sorry to rant here, but it's nearly 2am here and most sensible people are in bed. I need to get it out, and you lot are the only ones out there to me at this silly hour... And typing this lot has meant that the glass of wine I poured literally as soon as I walked though the door hasn't gone down too quickly...which is a good thing as I would not have enjoyed the wine....and would have just got pi$$ed on it, and it's nice wine...
And I've already warned the people at work I won't be doing tickets tomorrow....and I'm even later out of London tomorrow...
Always said you were a pussycat Gina?
I would of dragged him off by his hair
