So what are we paying all those teachers, administrators, counselors, and specialists to do? We spend more tax money on “education†in this country than anything else. (Here in Iowa it’s more than everything else combined) and we’re getting less and less for it every year. So if it’s not the American education system that’s at fault are you saying that parents throughout the rest of the world are superior? Perhaps the children in other countries are just smarter? We spend more money per child than anyone else in the world and still get the poorest results. Learning does indeed begin at home and when American children begin school they are on par with children worldwide. But they begin to fall behind after a few years and the longer they remain in public school the farther behind they get.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
