Any suggestions on what to use as a holder for tokens or coins. It's never easy stopping at a toll booth.

We don't have many toll roads in the UK but, although it's a pain, make 'em wait while you get your gloves off, search in your pockets and then re-kit yourself ...

When they stop charging bikes to use toll roads, we won't hold the queue up!

I use a Zipass and love it. Using an EZPass on my bike makes life soooo much easier.

I enjoy the orchestra of horns accompanying my fumbling for $ at the toll booth. If I gotta wait, they gotta wait.

Ah, yes. And there's no better excuse for having your hand in your pocket for an extended period.

How long you reckon you'd have to fumble around, drop coins, get off the bike, take off gloves, fumble around a bit longer etc before they wave you through for free?

Here in Oklahoma, we have many , many, in fact I think all of our roads are toll roads ! The Tournpike Authority here has a device called a " PikePass" you pre-pay and as you zoom past the toll it scans and deducts from your account. Now, in Texas ,,, bikes are free ...no charge.

That's like our EZ pass. I can go all the way to Maine (finally!!), down to VA, and over to Ohio with it.

Let me tell ya a true story about NY's EZ Pass. My friend, Ron, has one and is always having troubles with them, they constantly over/double charge him. He sends in the statements and it will show that he is charged twice, even 3 times the same toll at the same booth at the same time. It takes them about 90 days each time to straighten it out. But of course, by then he has gone over his limit according to their calculations, then they start adding surcharges to each transaction, even the double billings. He once got a bill for over $200.
Then, on top of all that, they even gave him a speeding ticket once because they said he went from one end of NY to the other in world record speed. Now, Ron is a wuss, (geez, I mean, he even rides a Sporster that he bought from a girl) and he drives like my grandmother. You know the guy, you pass him on the Thruway and flip him off for driving 52mph in the fast lane for the last 25 miles, preventing any of the 18,000 cars backed up behind him to pass anyone else. Yep, that's Ron, the speed demon. He ended up fighting that for about 6 months, then just sent them the $64 and gave up. There is no arguing with the NY Thruway Authority or the DMV, they ALWAYS win.
Then, once they retire from the DMV, they are given jobs at the post office. I am sure you can spot them, the ones mingling behind the counter, showing baby pictures to the 12 others while 400 people wait in line and one window is open.
Hmm, bad history with these guys? Ya think.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

Dinqua, I've used EZ Pass in no less than 6 cars and never had a problem.
That includes driving the NJ Turnpike at the speed of light and not being ticketed.

Sounds like your friend has a faulty transmitter. He should get it replaced, or have it "stolen" to avoid future trouble.

We have a few EZ Pass issues with one truck that has a metal sun visor. Since it's a fusion transponder that communicates with the truck scales, I can't really buy an exterior model.

Anyway, EZ Pass is the best invention since sliced bread. Nothing like sailing through those NYC bridge toll booths while the cash folks are lined up 30 deep.

I've been using my EZPass for 6 years now and only had one problem, and that was when they were just implementing it in Maine, and it wouldn't read in all of the toll booths.

Actually, when my car was in the shop, I forgot to take it out of the car, so I just grabbed mine off of my bike. For 3 months, they thought my replacement car was a motorcycle! Half price tolls for 3 months wasn't too bad.

Wow. That is exactly what I do. I even will put her on the sidestand while I fish about.

They (the toll, ahem, Authority) can kiss my hairy buttocks.
