Just got back from a road test of the new Clearview TA/SM Summer Screen replacement. The only new one they are making is a 17" which is 3 3/4" higher than the stock SS and looks very similar to factory. The stock one had very buffeted wind that hit me right in the eyes which required me to wear a helmet shield but I still had problems with the wind shaking my head.

This new Clearview shield does have buffeted wind coming off the top and upper sides but much less intense than the stock one. This wind is now hitting me on the top of my helmet above the visor. I rode for a good bit at all speeds up to 80 mph. I feel there is no perfect windshield as I have tried a number of them. This screen will work fine for me or anyone 5'8" - 6' tall that had similar problems with the Triumph Summer Screen. The Triumph one works great for 5'8" or under but the buffeted wind is very annoying for anyone taller. If you are taller than 6' this new one may create some of the same problems unless you have a lower profile seat.

Clearview may be making one taller in the near future, but I plan to stick with this one as I really didn't want the look of a large windshield. I can ride with my helmet shield off and I don't have the wind pressure on my upper body. I also think it looks good enough to leave on my bike all the time.

Some wind is what riding is all about, but I do like a little more comfort. When it's cold or I'm on a long trip, I'll probably wear my helmet shield, but when I get where I'm going, I can swap it with the visor and still be comfortable. The Clearview shield is excellent quality and fit the factory mounts perfectly. I would advise loosening all screws and mounts to be sure it is even before tightening. You could take it off easily with the 4 screws that mount the shield but you would still have the upper arms sticking up. Triumph really didn't intend for it to be an easy on/off screen. I would also recommend the light gray tint which looks like the stock one. It actually makes it MORE invisible as I said before.

This is the 4th shield I've tried, one of which was the WindVest. This one looks great on the bike and is the best compromise I've found. If you already have the Triumph Summer Screen and are tired of all the head shaking or couldn't stand it - getting this new shield would be your best buy - way cheaper than adding a WindVest or many other shields with mounts.
