I partially agree with you Derek, I think the focus needs to be both ways, that the idiot turned in front of him causing the accident, and that his injuries would have been significantly reduced had he been wearing a helmet, unfortunately, you're right. They seem to completely ignore (or at least minimize) the fact that the accident was the cager's fault.
A responsible media would take this opportunity to educate the public about sharing the road and being aware that motorcyclists are on the road in ever increasing numbers, and that they have to LOOK for us
