New guy...just got a 06 america....wonderful bike...what to do about the sound.... Would I get the same sound out of having someone take out the baffles as I would from installing either sceptre or epco exhaust? thanks

No. But if you experiment a bit with your stock pipes you may find a point that makes you just as happy. I've got both and find advantages to both. The debaffled stockers have a deeper mellower tone than epco's.

How difficult is it to take the baffles out by someone who knows nothing about that kind of thing?

Or, search for the holesaws. There are a few here that get sent around to folks that need them.

Or, there is a guy on e-bay that sells the pipes already modified. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS..._Pr3_PcY_BID_IT
I had him drill an extra hole in the plates for me. (He will know what your talking about) and mine sound great! Usually he only drills 2 holes. I am very very happy I did not drop the cheese on Epco's now.
Also, I did not need to re-jet. Snorkels are pulled and AI's are removed on my 06 TBA.
Enjoy..

Here are the trade-offs you are facing:
1. Modified stock pipes are nearly free.
2. Epcos are a simple bolt on and that makes it really hard to irrepairably buggar up the job.
3. If you modify the original pipes and then get a noise ticket, you have nothing to put on to get by inspection.
4. Power gain is certain with Epcos. Maybe better, maybe worse when you modify the stock pipes.
