I believe it depends on whether you have removed the airbox or not. I had and mine came with 160s but this was some time ago... Currently running 150s as the larger ones were too big.

I have an 03 speedy and had the pipes and freak installed by a dealer. We looked into the carburator and found 160 main jets and 142 pilot jets, but there were shims on the needle??? and it seems to run ok. I imagine the 150's would work without shimming. I get a little back fire on decell though.

Wow! 160s WITH shims???

I had 160s without shims, am at sea level, and was running rich! I had also changed to TBS needles about 2 months after Epcos (and the 160s) and was really rich. That's when I dropped to 150s.

Stock needles, right? Get rid of the shims first and see what happens.

Interesting.

I was rich with the 160s and stock needles. The TBS needles really richened it up....

maybe this is another area where these carbs differ? seems there are so many different jetting setups for the same mods

Yeah, I agree. I know that Cambridge is darn near at sea level too so I figure we now need to factor in air density. Temperature, air pressure, and humidity are used to calculate this. Big differences between here and Cambridge concerning these factors!!

To me, this means a dyno is more important than ever to really dial it in...
