Riding down the road at 70 mph, you glance down at your front wheel as something catches your eye, a 16 oz plastic pop bottle, empty of contents and lying parallel with the tire, thrown there by an obvious non tree hugger slob.
Do ya think if I had been 2 inches to the right and caught that bottle it would have shifted my front end over while it was lifting my front wheel off the ground? The thought of that kind of change in direction at speed just a momentary chill down the spine don't ya know.

Truthfully, I'd bet that even if you centerpunched it, all you'd do is spit the bottle either to the left or the right, you'd maybe feel a little something in the bar, but that'd be about it.

Don't worry ed! If "Karma" holds true, that "non tree hugger slob" who threw that d*mned bottle on the road, will most certainly end up being swept away by the first Hurricane to hit Wisconsin since the U.S. Meteorological Service started keeping records of such phenomena. Most likely, one of 3 things would have happened. 1. The "bow wave" of air from the tire would sweep it out of the way.
2. It would pop out from under the tire like a kid shooting pennies by pressing on them with his finger. 3. The bottle would be crushed under the tire, building up enough internal pressure to pop the lid off and shoot the idiot between the eyes.

Hmm. Global warming. Interesting topic. I hear it caused or contributed to the FREAKIN dinosaurs becoming extinct. Ya know.....meteors and climate changes ....ice ages and what not.
Global warmin is nothing more than the normal climate shifts that have and will continue to go on until such time as this earth dries up and becomes a cold stone when the sun dies.
Scientists need something to write a thesis on and Al needs to add it to his list of stuff he "invented"
I think Al never heard of an "Ice Age" He drank the kool aid!
No one gives a rats nest about global warmin. It will get warm and it will cool again like it always has.
Dwight...do ya think ole al bore is really thinking about running again? Hillary aint a gonna like that one dang bit.
I can see it now. Al's main talking point will be how he will save us all from the pending "Ice age" that was brung on by George Dubya Bush. LOL
I can see us all freezin in a nano second as the downdrafts ala that big blockbuster movie indicated would happen.
We will all have to illegally cross the Rio Grande and live with the Mexicans to survive. Al will be wagging his finger at us and saying "I told ya" I told ya"...
Where the heck is that doggone KOOL AID? I forgot to drink it.

So THAT'S where the plastic bottle I had rolling around in the back of my pick up went. I was wondering about that. It was my very favorite bottle of all the trash I keep back there. One more reason that I don't like riding behind pick ups is that they sometimes have crap stashed in them that's light enough to blow out and into my face at any point in time. I es[pecially like dirt trucks with the loads uncovered. I realize I'm a little off track here, but I was looking for a pet peeve o'the day, and unnecessary road trash seems as good as any. BTW, it probably would have squirted out either to the right or to the left had you run the bottle over and it would probably not have affected you one way or the other.

Thanks Kevin!
Just about the time I think I can't figure out how people will respond to "stuff", YOU have renewed my faith in my abilities.
Before we hijack poor eds thread anymore, I think there IS a certain amount of truth in this "global warming" theory. Maybe not to the degree that "Al Bore"(BTW, I agre wit' cha on THAT one.....that sucker is about as good an orator as your boy Dubya is) claims there is, but to some degree....YES!
Cheers, Dwight

Yes Eddy, it does get you thinking. The pick-up trucks scare me to death. You never know what may come flying out of those suckers at any moment.
Global warming: We have that every May or June right? Then global cooling in October or so. Yeah, I have heard of that.
In New Zealand its already caused a problem. They get cold in the summer and warm in the winter, wow, go figure.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

I'm ashamed to say that I actually ran over one yesterday while cruising down a perfectly straight stretch of unobstructed highway. I must have been completly in a fog. That SOB popped like a shotgun. It rattled me so badly that I had to turn around to see what it was. Needless to say, I remained awake ans allert for the remainder of the ride.

I had a close call today. I was traveling at about 80 down the 401 which is similar to your interstate hiways. I was in the center lane with a transport in the right lane about 50 feet ahead. It ran over a wooden skid kicking it up in pieces about at a height of 3 feet. I had no time to react which was probable a good thing. I was hit by some of the smaller pieces. Had I been behind the transport, I would have had to ride through it and hope for the best.
