The darn neutral light stays on, anyone know what could cause this? I assume there is a switch somewhere that is hanging up or not working properly.

Usually caused by pinched or abraided wires grounding out. The wires run up from below the carburettors.

Welcome to the Neutral Light League. I squashed mine in the front sprocket cover.

Yup. Did you have your front sprocket cover off?

Just wanted to sieze the opportunity to gripe and whine about that wire routing. If it is such a common problem, why don't Triumph engineers re-route or protect that wire? When it's grounded out, safety features are knocked out (can start it in gear). Must not affect sales.

Yeah but... think of the GQ smooth landings we can make by riding around with the kick stand down.

A short length of split loom will help

It should be readily available at most auto parts stores. One of these days I may even remember to put some on mine.
I believe every brand has their testaments to some odd engineering, (Including Rolls Royce, who likes to layer in components 5 or more parts deep.) For instance, Harley belts work great, that is, until a small chunk of stone gets imbedded into them. Some Harley kick stands work exactly as stone transfer spoons, scooping & then dumping fine sand & gravel directly onto the precision side of the belts. As we know, changing a drive belt = pulling the rear wheel, as one can't split a belt like a chain link.

They are a bit old fashioned in the UK and still think people should take care when working on their bikes.
There is no amount of foolproofing that can thwart the creativity of mankind. In an electrical class once, the instructor was going on about how unsafe it is that North American house fuses are interchangable and how wonderful it is that Euro fuses are not. A German student chimed in and said, "You know vat ve do? Ve trife a nail trew de fusse."

O.K. that was the problem, now that I know it I will make sure the wire is not pinched. Good to know that the darn thing is there.

It was put in as a tribute to Joe Lucas.
