To Technical Support:
Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 and noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. No mention of this phenomenon was included in the product brochure. In addition, Wife 1.0 installs itself into all other programs and launches during system initialisation, where it monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Pokernight 10.3, Drunken Boys Night 2.5 and Saturday Football 5.0 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected. I can not seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run some of my other favourite applications. I am thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but un-install does not work on this program. Can you help me, please? Otherwise, I'm screwed.
Thanks spud
Dear spud Screwed:
This is a very common problem men complain about but is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is merely a "UTILITIES & ENTERTAINMENT" program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and designed by its creator to run everything. It is unlikely you would be able to purge Wife 1.0 and still convert back to Girlfriend 7.0. Hidden operating files within your system would cause Girlfriend 7.0 to emulate Wife 1.0 so nothing is gained. It is impossible to un-install, delete, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You can not go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is not designed to do this. Some have tried to install Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than the original system. Look in your manual under "Warnings-Alimony /Child Support." I recommend you keep Wife 1.0 and just deal with the situation. Having Wife 1.0 installed myself, I might also suggest you read the entire section regarding General Partnership Faults (GPFs). You must assume allresponsibility for faults and problems that might occur, regardless of their cause. The best course of action will be to enter the command;
C:\APOLOGISE.
In any case avoid excessive use of the "Esc" key because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGISE command before the operating system will return to normal. The system will run smooth as long as you take the blame for all the GPFs. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but very high maintenance. Consider buying addition software to prove the performance of Wife 1.0. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Chocolates 5.0. Do not, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This is not a supported application for Wife 1.0 and is likely to cause irreversible damage to the operating system.
Best of luck

Uh yup. They are in essence an unbeatable virus. No form of control will work. No anti-virus program has or ever will be figured out that could clean the system of the WIFEY bug. Even Microsoft and all those eggheads have been unable to effectively adress this dreaded "bug" Nothing short of a complete "format disc" will help. By formatting disc (divorce) Youy may divest yourself of the bug but only bring about financial ruin.

Unless you have had that function permenently disabled
Which I hear you can do by simply snipping a "wire" or two... but this is BEST left to a trained EXPERT...not something you should DIY

I successfully purged wife 1.0 and installed girlfriend 8.0 but it was an expensive upgrade. Cost me half of everything I owned.

Thankfully I've uninstalled all remaining vestiges of the Girlfriend software. None were upgraded to Wife. I've rolled my system back to Bachelor 9.0. I'd like to install a new plug-in called Friend With Benefits 1.0, but I'm having trouble finding it in stores (I stopped looking on the internet - all of those copies were already taken or full of bugs).

Did you use EDL 3.0 to purge Wife 1.0?

I just bought ring 1.0 tonight so does that mean I'm on like a Beta version of Wife1.0?

John even this program has it's ups and downs. I currently have two different versions of it running. I've learned that both programs don't run well together. Whoops!

Yeah, I could see where concurrent versions could cause "issues."

Keeping the programs separate is wise as they both require the same resources, both are similar yet different in each respect but after all I am only running the one system and it does getting draining. (Okay I didn't mean it that way).

If you can get them both to run simultainiously either in the background or as the main operating system you can be the envy of all

A word of warning to those running friend with benefits 1.0, I have found with a couple of previous programs I had that they will purge themselves if you fail to use them on a regular basis. However you must also be careful not to use them too much or they will upgrade themselves to a girlfriend program without you knowing it.

you can get a new sub program for wife 1.0
its called pillion 1.1
pillion 1.0 worked ok but the constant rearangeing of the hard drive area ment an upgrade to pillion pad 1.1 was in order to ensure total compatability
hmmm funny line to follow

Tried that once when in a small town (pop 200). Didn't work out too well.
Never run the Merge patch. Unless you have an escape plan.

I installed motorcycle 1.1 with a pillion seat plug-in for wife 1.0. I find that I can use this application as long as I run wife 1.0 in the background. Any attempt to launch motorcyle 1.1 without wife 1.0 creates a conflict and causes me to launch the apologizer 1.0 application to mediate the problem. Unless, wife 1.0 is busy processing Friends 4.0 or Gambling 1.2.

I'm STILL trying to get wife 1.0 to work with girlfriend 20.1... (If I find girlfriend 20.1) AND I get the bugs worked out of the compatability issues I'll BE SURE to give you all a copy of the programing for this SHAREware.... of course this software/hardware is highly sensitive and one wrong move can destroy the whole system ...but that is the RISK I'M willing to take for MY BRETHREN here!

Your wife 1.0 is definetly not compatible with any girlfriend software available. She will automatically corrupt any girlfriend shareware and initiate Lawyer 1.3 application to nullify off your plug-in software.

nah...I had girlfriend 12.0 and girlfriend 12.5 working together fine once...it can be done....but the hardware was newer then and the programing was MUCH simpler...and I was an undergrad student then so my programing skills were at their finest...ocourse Fortran 5 and punch cards were the rage then too so like I said my hardware may no longer support this shareware program.

Beware.... total compatability of Girlfriend 12.0 and Girlfriend 12.5 is possible and will at first run with your plugins but before long could become totally self sufficient and run independant of your plugins, using own attachments, At first monitoring may be possible but eventually become tottally invisible to you with no input to the programme what so ever!!!!!! the program enjoyment will be minimal.
