I read an article on webbikeworld:
http://www.webbikeworld.com/triumph-motorcycles/repair-maintenance.htm about raising the front fork tubes making the steering quicker on a Triumph Thunderbird. I raised the forks 10 mm on my 2002 bonneville America and it indeed did seem to quicken the steering. I noticed that they were raised about 3 mm from the factory. It only took about 15 minutes, mostly in measuring to be exactly even on both forks.
