Does anyone know if "brake away" cruise control make an application for our bikes? (Specifically the America) Or if anyone allready has one on one of their bikes what do you think of their product?
Seen their video on internet looks interesting.

Not sure about that brand, but I know the Throttlemeister makes one that will work, I believe it is the one for the Sprint that fits our bikes. Some folks have them and they are very nice stuff, pricey but nice.

Pat, Thanks. I couldn't find a price for the throttlemeister but the breakaway lists for $199.95. Like you say, pricey.

I broke down and ordered one today. My 2005 America takes their model #6CB03-4. $209 shipped from BrakeAway. If anyone wants to know I'll let you know what I think of it when it comes in.

I've been looking for a good quality cruise control myself, these California freeways put a strain on the hand and wrist. I would be interested in what you find out? There's a bike shop in the next town over that is listed as a dealer for the brake away.

I had something like that some time ago. It worked OK, seemed to me to be a lot safer than any of the friction locks, but it sometimes got in the way.

I have been using one of those crampbuster (actually a throttlerocker) for about a year now. It helps a little but still kills my wrist over a long haul. Waiting for the UPS to deliver the BrakeAway unit. Was hoping to get it before a planned ride Sunday.

Well guys! Call me a cheap b*stard(HEY DWIGHT! YOU'RE A CHEAP B*STARD!!!)....but....for NO MONEY DOWN and NO MONTHLY PAYMENTS....I keep a 5mm hex key(allen wrench) in my pocket. And THEN, when I know I'll be on these SoCal freeways with little of no traffic(yep people...that actually HAPPENS sometimes) OR when I'm goona be waaaaay out of the "Asphalt Jungle", I simply loosen the thottle machanism, pull it towards the end of the handlebar, which of course makes for more friction against the bar end, and thus keeps the throttle from returning to idle(without a positive turn of your own) and then tighten 'er back up!

And then I CA-RUISE down the highway, sometimes takin' my right hand competely off the handlebar, and joyessly and effortlessly motor down the Interstates.(all along with EITHER the tunes of Springsteen or Steppenwolf playing in my little noggin'.

Cheers,
Dwight

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

i use a 10cent drain pipe washer between the grip and the brake res. and it holds the throttle in place just fine. you have to throttle down yourself but i can take my right hand off the throttle for long periods of time. 10cents hahahahahahaha its like the old dead mans throttle 10cents hahahahahahaha works for me

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!
