[ my 15 year old daughter will be driving next year,]
Get to her NOW Stone....I'll bet that in most of those cases (17-25) females (and males) they were almost never spoken to about driving responsibily...more about how to make a 3 point turn, then how to be aware of your surroundings...and lets face it look around...at who they are emulating...how many ADULT cages (men and woman) are clueless on the road!!
Forget the proper 3 point turn lecture (leave that to her Drivers ed teacher) you work on the Responcibility side....Plus the fact that YOU ride SHOULD make HER more aware of bikes.
My Boss (he and I think VERY much alike) won't even ALLOW (as best as he can monitor) cell phone to be turned ON while in the car for his girls...and the penalty for getting caught is NO CAR for 2 weeks...walk, ride your bike, or Mom or Dad will drive you (which he admits is a PITA some times)
My Son is 12 and I've already started to pound it into his head...as best I can...now on occasion he'll say "Dad, look at that idiot over there doing...." so at least he recognizes bad habits....lets just hope he REMEMBERS them later
