The Horse Backstreet Choppers mag is having a Smokeout West for the first time in Cottonwood, Az October 6 & 7. If you're into the old school chopper look, it's worth going. And if it's anything like the Smokeout they have in Salisbury, NC, then it's also more old school rally than your typical event these days. It'll be burnouts, build-offs, and boobs!

The original Smokeout in Salisbury, North Carolina is closer for you, and probably better than the one they'll have out here since that one back east has been an annual event for 7 years now. I even saw a pic of a Speedmaster in a gallery of pics posted last year after the Smokeout. I wonder who that was?

That sounds like an interesting few days. I may plan on making that.

Love the magazine for its DIY sense and wealth of Brit bikes.
It'd be a haul from NorCal, but hey, it ain't a ride without a couple days in front of it...
Anyone set on going?

I was implying flying but I hear tell that internal flights are a little pricey these days. Is that right?

Hey Joe,
I'm not 100% committed to going yet, but I'm trying to swing it.

Update since it's less than a week away. I'm heading up Thursday and staying with the ever gracious Dwight in Prescott. Wanted to be closer to the action, but the budget wouldn't allow it. Anybody else going?

Is it bad form to quote yourself? Oh well, here goes anyway...
just to offer up the proof from this weekend...
Burnout

Build-off

Boobs

What a great weekend! I have many more pics to upload in some sort of album, including what I think is the best example of a chopped and bobbed new Triumph twin(I'll post that one in the customs forum).

Cool bikes! I noticed a trend in some of the H-Ds. Seems like the old board track racer look is pretty popular right now.
And that old Triumph Twin "Mad Max", with the custom made single-shock swing arm, looks like it would be a blast to ride.
Cheers, Dwight
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
