This afternoon I had the second experience of being in a parking lot starting my 05 TBA and having it stall a couple of times. The problem turned out that I was in second gear when I thought I was in first. I am sure that I tapped the shift all the way down. I have read that neutral can be hard to find on the BA ~~ but has anyone else had this problem?

I find that it wants to pass by neutral going in EITHER direction up or down...you really have to gently "click" it into neutral!

Ditto Rob. I've had occasional misses selecting neutral but usually it's going from 2nd to 1st.

Sometimes after sitting I find that the shifter wont engage anything, up or down, unless I roll the bike back and forth just a little. When I get ready to roll out I'll kick down and then roll back and forth a little and then kick down again just to make sure. Better to take the extra second than to stall in in 2nd.

except for when your shifting and you hit neutral instead of second. Then it's real easy to find.
Yep I agree its touchy.
I would like a light that says i'm in 5th. any ideas for that anyone? Other than an 18T sprocket.

They make shift counters for sport bikes... Little LCD with a number on it kinda thing. But there's a thing you have to mount to the shifter to actuate it, I think it would look ugly on our bikes, but maybe it could be mounted inder the battery or something.

Had the same problem very early on. It went away after adjusting the cable. Its been like butter ever since.

Get the 18 tooth...then you'll need a light to let you know your NOT in top gear!

Try adjusting your clutch cable and/or shift lever. I had a similar issue with mine as the new clutch cable stretched out a bit. A small adjustment and finding neutral is a snap.

For hittin neutral before starting, I often reach down and give the shifter a litle tug with my hand. It also helps to pull in the clutch and rock the bike back and forward to break the clutch loose.

Gotten into the habit of "blipping" the throttle every time I shift. Keeps rpm's up and shifts smooth as butter.
