I was performing the AI mods today on '05 and when I lifted the tank I noticed 2 'unused' electrical plugs which sat just above the carbs. One was a 2 wire plug with a purple wire & yellow wire. The other , well I can't remember but think it was either 4 or 6 wires. Can anyone enlighten me as to what they may be for???
Also on the Australian delivery '05 there is no light switch ( lights on permanently ) I'm guessing it wouldn't be hard to buy and connect said switch to make things said normal. Anyone done this as yet?

Small plug is the connector for the accesory power outlet, the 6 pin one's for the driving lights. There's also a socket with about 12 wires that has a plug in it that just has two little wires that loop back into the plug - that's for the alarm.
As far as I know the light switch is missing from all Triumph bikes (and in fact from all modern bikes). I'm told the wiring's in there for it but can't remember seeing it. "Jenks Bolts" apparently used to stock the switch but the rumour mill has it that the last one was sold about 6 months ago and Triumph haven't made any more.

Thanks for that Sandman, a handy bit of knowledge for when I fit the driving lights. ( need them in Australia to see the kamikaze kangaroos at night !!!! ) and it looks like there will be no on/off switch for the lights......sad !!!

The Triumph driving lights has a switch built into the one of the two lights. This way you can switch them on and off independent of the main light.

My 02 BA has the light switch 
I actualy thought it a bit strange when i bought the bike because i thought the light had to be on permanantly to pass Australian standards and for safety reasons.

Ahhh yes, don't you love all the suicidal critters that come out to see your nice, shiny bike and (hopefully) unbattered body. Here we have whitetail deer (otherwise known as "high speed beef") and wild turkey on the roads to contend with. Oh yeah, then there are the raccoons, opposums, squirrels, etc etc...anything you can do to see them farther ahead is a Godsend.

Several years ago I got a call from a Navy buddy in Maine. He was driving a Chevy Suburban and totaled it hitting a MOOSE. Driving a BA we might be able to duck and go under one.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Hey Nico... when you get around to doing the driving lights (which I -strongly- recommend) you'll find the standard triumph kit's wired up wrong for our road rules. The driving lights're on all the time and are designed to be set up as an extra low beam. There's a couple of extra (unused) wires in the connector tho, and one of them's for the high beam. This means you can change the position of one of the wires in the plug and they'll only come on with high beam which makes them (sort of) legal here. ("Sort of" coz the law doesn't actually allow for extra headlights on bikes at all here, but at least they'll be legal to car laws).
You'll also find the standard kit's BLOODY expensive, but if like me you like the widely spaced driving lights (or intend to put a roadster screen on at some point) you can just order the bar from Triumph and get your own lights & wiring and save yourself about $400. That also means you can put the switch wherever you like (mine's in the dashboard where the alarm LED's sposed to live. Much better than sticking out the side of the light housing).
