I am sure your Father was a great and honorable man. I see nothing anywhere disrepecting him.
As to our current generation. We are a poor lot compared to your fathers' and mine.
We do have some Grade "A" Americans out there but none of the liberal mouthpieces you would raise as icons of the current liberal agenda would remotely apply. Most are just wannabes.

So all I am saying Dwight is that the list of people noted above are the ones on the bully pulpit who best supposedly (and there are many more) do all the talking for the left.
Unfortunately they are not held in high regard by enough of us to make a difference.
None of them could hold a candle to the least of America's greatest generation be it your Father or mine or anyone elses. That generation knew when it was necessary to unite. Ours has lost that ability.

All that the Democratic party needs to regain its respect is to run some grade "A" people. Not perfect people but at least grade "A" in spirit. Cause grade "B" dont buy no rice. Not in the world we live in. Grade "B" never even got close during our fathers generation. Its a shame they "get close" now.
Perhaps we are degenerating as a culture just as Rome did in its later days.
Meanwhile back at the ranch we have ole Grade "A" less than perfect G Dubya watching our backside and we can thank our lucky stars for that.
