Funny thing about riding in a pack with strangers is there is always a best and worst rider. I can tell you that on the Truimph truck ride there was a guy who took the Rocket through curves like it was on rails. Dude had perfect balance and knew just how to adjust his weight. I learned a few things watching him ride. Then there was the scary guy I got stuck behind. Going into the curves on a speed triple no less he kept putting his leg down to catch the bike like some dirt track rider. Now we were going between 40 and 50 through these turns and all I could think of is that legs gonna catch on something and come flying off. He did it all day but I was only right behind him once. Lets just say the old heart was pumping fast everytime he took the turns at the wrong angle, leg down and didnt have a clue how to use the gas to carry him through. You know for every great rider there is some leg dragging dork who sould not be riding let alone in a pack of riders

Just exactly the reason most people should take a rider course. I don't think I could have helped saying something to him, maybe how if he keeps up the foot dragging, one day he draws back a bloody stub.

The first few days of riding the BA, I remember absent-mindedly thinking about putting my feet in the standard peg position (76 Bonneville). Wait!! there's no peg down there!! Scared me out of that behavior. Had a visual of kicking myself in the back of the head with my boot heel . So, did this guy actually make contact with the tarmac, or just "threaten" to do so???? Seems like sticking your inside leg out would screw up your balance in the corners. JH

The truck is here in Indy this weekend, just in time for the Indy 500. Our local Triumph dealer asked the Ratpack to help out with the Demo rides. Hope I don't see too many of those leg draggers. The course they have these guys riding has some pretty tight corners. But the good thing is the speed limit on this road is only 30 mph. Of course most MC riders say that those signs are for cars not motorcycles!!! Steve
