I did the same fix as JAEGER. Look closely at your cable mine was slightly melted when I discovered that the loop was broken. I put a cable tie and let the rubber cable loop in the middle worked real nice. Occassionally I have to recenter the rubber loop but no biggie. Like JAEGER I also plan to get one from brent but with 2 in college money is tight but I did just order the new Haynes manual.
