So. I'm standing at the dreaded "self check out" counter at the local Home Depot paying for bits and pieces, and I see something nice out of the corner of my eye at the next counter. A pair of nicely shaped legs dressed in four inch black heels, fishnet stockings, and a red mini-skirt. My eyes move up to take in the other details, and WTF?!?!?! It's a guy!!! No, not an ugly woman, a G-U-Y!!! With hoop ear rings no less. Apparently, I had my first encounter with a local semi-celebrity in Little Rock known as "The Skirt Man." Even his vanity license plate supposedley says "SKRTMAN." Ya gotta give a guy like that credit for guts in going out like that to a traditional "guy" store in broad (no pun intended, but that would have been a good one) daylight in a redneck city like Little Rock, Arkansas. Still, I WAS a bit shocked  by it all. After all, everyone knows ya don't wear fishnet stockings before 8 PM!

Reminds me of my trip to Trader Joe's(sort of organic kind of place where I buy cheese & beer) yesterday. I'm not paying much attention to the checkout woman when I'm sliding my debit card through, until she makes a comment about my Bonneville Performance t-shirt. I look up and she has this dyke-ish buzz haircut with a sprout growing out the top that reminds me of Alfalfa from Our Gang. Compounding the problem was her fireplug build. I had to try reallllly hard not to laugh. Not that I'm anything to look at, but at least I appear somewhat normal.

JB, That is so far off-topic, so far 'round the bend that I believe you may have actually achieved the impossible .........!!!  BTW "skirt man" may have a brother living in Hot Springs, Montana. Met him, uuhh walking out of Justice Court 5 years ago. Same fish net stockings and tight cocktail dress, when everyone agreed simple sheer leggings would have been much more appropriate given the time of year and day. JH

I have a customer at the dealership that, 7 years ago, I knew as a man (as a customer). He was a Frank then. Now it's Julianne. Had the operation and everything. No secret it is what it is, everyone can tell - our newer employees, other customers - it's very obvious.
Bad drinking problem, I suspect, however related that is. Pretty familiar customer at the collision center...
Actually he (she?) is some sort of executive at one of our more famous fast food hamburger corporations - and it's not McD's.
Has two Lexi, and spends money to maintain them. I just ignore the obvious and treat him like any other customer and it's no big deal.
His social life must really suck, though (no pun intended). It probably has all of his life.

I know (knew) a guy in Ottawa that was gender unsure when he was younger. Eventually started to dress, first just at home, then going out evenings, and finally full time. He was a govt. employee, and even came out at work. He (hereafter referred to as she) did the hormone therapy treatments, electrolysis, and finally full SRS surgery. It was a long and difficult journey for her, but she wanted to be a woman more than most real women I know. I really liked this person as a quality human being, and I understand a lot better now about someone being "a woman trapped in a man's body". I haven't seen her in many years, and our friendship was always strictly platonic...but sometimes I felt uncomfortable being alone with her...I mean, what if she wanted me to be her first...you know... I don't think I'm THAT open-minded!

In a way, I can see some reason for a presto-chango operation. Afterward, all you have to do is pout and cry a little to get just about anything you want instead of busting your arse to earn some money and then have to rush to spend it before the government or some other criminals take it away.

LOL...in this case, she's very hard-working...supports herself...bore most of the cost of the SRS surgery herself. It's a very, very long drawn out process...not presto-chango at all...psychological counselling prior to being accepted for the surgery, years of hormone treatments...not a decision to be taken lightly...if every woman had to go through this to become a woman, we'd have a lot less of the female gender in the world! which is why I really believe that she was a woman's spirit in a man's body...why else endure such pain and trauma and personal expense?

My brother works at Northrop-Grumman in El Segundo, CA. He was telling me the other day (after I related this story) about a guy at his plant who was a transsexual. There was a big to-do about which restroom he should use, since there had not yet been an operation to complete the transformation. The females didn't want him in theirs and the males didn't want him in theirs either. NorthGrumm finally designated a restroom soley for his use. Only in California...

LOL...I remember working in N. Hollywood in the 70's...seemed like all of Orange County was gay or bisexual then! I'm pretty tolerant towards alternate lifestyles, but sometimes you just wanna be where everybody is the same sexuality and it was hard to find a straight bar...finally discovered Barney's Beanery...does it still exist?

NG won the contract to handle all of San Diego County's IT support. Our Helena Site Director is working down there for a few months helping with the transition and this morning he sent me a posting for a Web Designer position down there.
Tempting but it's likely I'll stay here for now.

He's Director of Manufacturing Engineering, and he designs automated tooling and processes for assembling the NG contracted sections of the F/A-18. He holds over 14 patents for various design technologies in aerospace manufacturing.

In the 70's, there was a place on Hollywood Blvd you would probably have liked called The Nest. It got its name when they discovered a birdnest in the rafters when they were remodeling the place before they moved in. My ex OL was given the nest when they closed up in the early 80's, dunno if she still has it or not. Business was pretty good, but the building owner got a better offer from some sushi selling outfit and terminated the lease.
