Hi everyone

After all the hype you give over the Corbin seat and backrest I put myself down for first refusal of Pete Duffields set in the UK. I must say that I am well impressed with the seat especially the back rest it has made me sit up if you will or should I say keep my back straight, I must of some how been slouched on the original Triumph seat, I know I am not young but this really supports my lower back and the ride is tremendous.

If you want my view on Corbin, then invest in one. To buy a Corbin in the UK it is around £600.00, I noticed in the US you are paying around $379+ P&P which equate to around £210.00, rip off Britain at its best.

I'll try to keep this short, but I could easily write a book about it. I've had 3 back surgeries and could only ride on the factory seat for about an hour before It started aching. I heard so much about Corbin on this website, I thought I would check them out. After talking with them on the phone, they suggested I go directly to the factory for a custom fit(any excuse for a ride). So, I rode the 350 miles to Northern California(My back wasn't too happy). I arrived at Corbin @7:30am. Let me just say the place is very cool. From the showroom, to the warehouse and even the Cafe. The people were all very friendly and helpful. They start out by putting on a new corbin seat for the BA, this is without the leather. You ride it around and tell your personal tech where you want a bit shaved off here and there. You ride it again and keep repeating the process until it is perfect. Now the hard part. There are a ton of different leathers, styles and colors to choose from. It is very overwhelming. Your Tech will give you some ideas, but this is your baby and they will do whatever you want. I had about 20 different ideas and at the last second I scrapped all of them. They let me use their internet access and I found a copy of the Union Jack. The tech blew it up on a copier until we got the right size and he gave it to the upholsterer. Some of the end results are posted in my gallery. I'll put more in there in the next couple of days. Bottom Line: From the beautiful ride, excellent customer service, incredible craftmanship, having the owner(Mike Corbin) talk with me for about an hour, great burger at the cafe. The entire experience was more than I could've expected. If you have a chance to ride to N. Cal to get your seat DO IT!!! It is worth it!!! All the customizations done to my seat were at no additional charge. If you can dream it, they can do it.
Now if they would only giving me a free seat for this glowing testimonial.
P.S. My back hasn't hurt since I got the seat!!!

You took my idea!! I want a union jack on my seat!! I'll have to give them a ring and tell them it has been done before:) Thanks for the good words!

Edit> Just checked out your gallery, looks good! I was thinking maybe a smaller version on the edge around the seat surface, or on the upright part of the seat surface... We'll see:)

If you didn't already know, they can do the flag in color as well. I just wanted something a little subtle.

Yeah I thought of that too. I like subtle, but maybe if the flag itself was small, red stitching would be hip. I'll have to think about it.

I've been sitting on the fence and Gapper's endorsement finally pushed me over. I picked up the phone and called Corbin, started talking with a rep and got about half way through the order process. I want some custom stitching done and wanted to send an email with an image to the guy. He says great send it to me and I'll call you back, give him my number and then he says, "oh sorry we don't ship to Canada". DAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

Back to the drawing board.

Get it shipped to the US and then to Canada?

I've done similar for others and if you want to pursue it, email me.

WOJO-
Ditto goes for me. If you want someone to ship it to you, I live in S. California and would be willing to do the same.

Matt,
I apologize if it was my referral to the Butt-Buffer site that enticed you to spend your money with them. I know I offered their site in a few posts before...they seemed to get some good reviews, but then again I guess if you advertise in some magazines you will get good reviews for your product. I am still using the stock seat and some days it is fine but others my tailbone goes numb and then into spazz mode. Painful, to say the least. I was considering the Butt-Buffer option, but now I think I'll hold off until I can justify a Corbin to the queen... again, sorry if my reference led you to a bad purchase...

Wojo,

I don't know if this helps or not, but you can have Corbin mail your new seat to me as I'm relatively close to the border. Then when it arrives, I can either mail the new one on to you, or I can pull slightly used Corbin off my very fast red scooter and send it along instead?? It's all broke in and ready to go.

Options are always good. And I like your inlayed Union Jack idea.

Ride Safe

john

Of all places they can't ship to... Canada?! Kinda weird. Up in Vermont my uncle drives to Canada just to get beer!

Is anyone using the Triumph crome seat rail around a
corbin seat? Are the outside dimensions about the same a stock Triumph single seat ?

Yeah Benny it surprised me to. It's not like we're on the other side of the world or something. And even if we were that shouldn't matter these days.

Tommy,

I use the seat rail with my Corbin. No problems with the fit. (see my gallery)

Nah Grump, I was at the IMS in 03 and met the guy who does the seats there. I figured it was the economical way to go. Unfortunately it does not help much. I will probably go with the Corbin seat and backrest when the boss releases the funds!

It seemed like every thing I wanted to do to my corbin seat they said we can't do that.
So now I want info from a few of you.
I need to rethink what I want for my seat.

Phil
what is the pattern stitched in you sissy bar pad, is it on the seats also?

Gapper
They tell me NO to the union jack.
They said they did it one time and the guy who did it has left the company.
Any info you have on this would be great.

Now I have to wait till atleast tomorrow to order my seat.

Hi Pete,

Man, that sucks about them not being able to do what you want. I figured if they could do a really cool deer head in Wojo's seat, why the heck not a Union Jack, eh? btw, have you seen the pic of his seat? I can't wait to see that in person!!

The pattern I have is listed as "DT Stitch pattern" on my invoice. It is on the saddle, pillion, and as you saw, on the sissy bar pad. It is not on the backrest...

My wife said it looked like skeleton ribs. Cool.......

I've got a hard time believing that they can't do the Union Jack on your seat when they did an incredible job on my seat which is a little more complicated then some stitching. Who did you talk to at Corbin?

3 weeks, thats pretty optimistic, seeing as how it took 3 months for my FIRST seat to get here and they made the wrong one for me ( it was a standard t100 seat)now im almost going on a month and 3/4 for the correct one! im a little upset w/ corbin right now to say the least.

Ok I made a few choice changes and ordered my corbin today.
The things they said no to were not in my original choices
so it was really no big deal to change my mind again.
So hopefully it will arive before I leave for GA.

NO!!! You've got to be kidding me. If you are serious about wanting the union jack stitched in, I'll find the card of the guy that did it for me and call him. If he is in fact no longer at Corbin, I'll call Mike Corbin(the owner) and talk to him directly. I had a long talk with him when I was up there and would be very suprised if they wouldn't do it for you. They were very willing to do anything when I was up there. Let me know, and Ill be more than happy to get in touch with someone for you. It doesn't hurt to try??

I order my corbin on wednesday with out the union jack.
Not really that big of a deal , I had not planned on it originally.
I am sure I will be happy with what I get.
And your set up will be more unique if the keep telling people no.
