Your yellow Speedy will only fail the equipment portion of the smog test IF the inspector at the smog station realizes that said parts have been removed.
And, you can always dummy up the AI set up.
Remember though, that the AI injects raw air into the exhaust stream, creating an afterburner like situation, which cleans up the exhaust readings. Your sans-AI readings may not be low enough to pass. (I know you know this stuff, since you teach it, but I thought I'd say if for the benefit of those not familiar with AI systems.)
Hmm, a perfect situation to use Nology coils and side-'n'-wide gapped plugs. Also, by the time you need to test, maybe Brent will have in stock, an HP ignition box for the 270º motor. These mods should easily bring your smog numbers back to test-passing levels, especially if we bump that gap out to .060" or more!
At least by then, your area out there will be so built up that they'll have to build another smog testing station, and you won't have to come all the way into Surprise to test.
