After sitting feeling sorry for self and at a loss last night, as I had been looking forward to going to Somerset, for a weekend of.....well drinking! but with good company

. I went to bed knowing I had a whole weekend of rain to look forward to, and knowing my better half would find loads of jobs for me to do about the house.
I woke up this morning to blue skies and sunshine. So I check the weather forcast - rain, rain, with a bit of rain in between for good measure. Again i look outside at the blue sky and thought sod it. So me and my son set off for Peterborough. Having gone to the BMF Rally for the last 12 yrs i was disappointed at the lack of bikes there, no more than a few hundred or so, but row upon row of cars (who can blame them after the forcast!).
Still good thing about small numbers, no queues and stacks of bargins (although my credit card may argue about the bargins bit!).
Apart from two very sharp but thankfully also very short showers, it remained a dry day. With everyone in good cheer.
The displays in the main arena were fun, and my hat comes off to the youth display team, ages ranging from 7 to 17; who although one of their number was injured doing a 4 car jump and landing on wet grass!! unfortunatly falling off and breaking his ankle; they carried on with a varied display, showing a dedication that you may not often find in a professional team, let alone a group of kids.
All the usual stands were there, including Triumph, who tried to get me to try a Rocket, but would not be drawn on rumours of a new cruiser (with just a hint of a twinkle in his eye!!!).
Owner clubs were well attending and handing out coffee to people who looked cold (amazing how cold you can look if there is free coffee involved

) Then i came across the HOG tent, not a bike in sight!!! on entering tent, I found two bikes, asking where everyone was, one of the three chaps in there looked me straight in the eye, and with a straight face said "it's been raining!"; I am afraid I had to beat a hasty retreat, before laughing my socks off, even MZ/Jawa, had put on a good tent!!
Anyway with the sound of a moaning son ringing in my ears (I had walked his feet off apprently

), we headed back towards the helmet park, looking at the black clouds rolling in, and decided to head home (much the relief of the afore mentioned credit card!!!).
Making the 2 hour journey home in a sunny oasis (that appeared to be travelling in same direction, and at the same speed!!), while surrounded by very black threatening clouds, not seeing a wet road until 2 miles from home.
Put bike in garage as shiny as i took it out this morning, locked the garage door, walked in house put kettle on, turned to look out of the window as the heavens opened!!!!!
So the whole point of this essay - none what so ever!!!
Apart from to say a thank you to whoever controls the weather for giving me a dry day.
I can only hope that all of you that have waded through this little essay, had as good of a day as I have had.
