You are correct. My bad. I just deleted my posting. Mine hasn't been working for a while and I assumed it was the design, but I just checked a lot closer and now I can see the wires underneath, and I can hear the switch clicking when I squeeze the lever. I wonder if it ever worked. It is long out of warranty. It could be the light bulb. I'll check it out.
