same carbs on 790 vs 865?

Progressive is totaling my bike. Cost to rebuild it is roughly $4500+ so I'm looking to get another one.

Are the carbs on the 790 and 865 the same? Will my airbox replacement swap over? Air screws? Carb allen-head screws? Jets and shims?

Yes to all.

Are you going to be able to buy back the bike and salvage as much as possible? Dang, you could have one helluva parts bin!

Just got the numbers from the adjuster.

I hadn't thought of the parts bin thing. I don't have the storage area in my garage to let it sit around for long. Besides, I don't know squat about ebay selling and don't have the time to do that.

You were needing a motor? 15K miles, oil change every 3000 or less (first, after break-in, at 1800 odometer [a bit anal with my new baby] and second at 2250 odometer [smashed the filter with the jack], others never went over 3100, usually at 2850-3000 interval).

Hmmm, you have added a new twist to my decision process.

Yeah, I was going to say something about a man who wants to reverse his upside down piston. Buy your bike back and part it out. Motor going North! Sounds like a road trip for Jaymo!

Gary,
BTW I'm sorry to hear that they are going to total her. Dang man. They totaled your ride and you hobbled away. Rather fortunate. How's the leg feeling? Get well soon.

Yes
I think Jaymo gets first crack at the motor.
Then if he don't want it I think it will fit in my trike
frame with my really long springer front end.

Thats what I love about this site!!!! Heres a bunch of guys who could easily scoop up this engine...and yet (although some might have needed a reminder ) they opt to give it to one of there fellow board members in need!!!

If I were drunk I might say..."I love you guys!" But I'm not so I won't

Gary Glad to hear your ok...sorry bout the bike man, that sucks!!...at least their taking care of you!

Man, I leave for a few hours and the thread grows on.

Pat and I are working it out on the motor. Jaymo will ride again! A week's delay due to transportation of my darling to the house, but I guess we can live with that.

I can't believe you guys took lazy me who just wanted to keep my carb stuff and you have created all this extra work for me. On top of that, you actually have me feeling good about it. My wife has been trying to pull that one off for 20 years.

Gary...hey I'm just now reading this thread and am touched at the support to get little 'ol me back in the saddle. I appreciate the support tremendously. Heck of a way to get a motor for a fellow Triumph enthusiast though Gary my friend. I hope you experience a complete recovery from your own episode of "on the road war stories"

Cheers mate!
