Well guys, I just found out yesterday that I won't be able to attend the ride on the 24th. I have to go to work at 8 AM to get my OSHA 10 hour certification. It's complete bull$hit seeing as I'm not even in the field regularly. I'm a cost engineer for crying out loud! Man I'm so pissed!

Grr. Seems like we're all having random stuff pop up. Make sure that guy from NJ isn't discouraged if you can't ride with him.

'Bout time to start thinkin about times n such. My MS has been a bit troublesome lately, and heat really gets to me so if it's super hot I'm thinking of more wrench/grill/chill time vs. sitting in traffic for sure. But either way we'll take a few passes along my favorite curvy/low traffic roads! Anyone have any little projects they want to do or see done?
Also, we may have Big Poppy joining us. Where are you in CT? Closer to Bridgeport or New London? Mert and Matt are taking the Bridgeport, but if you get an hour earlier start, you can be to us from the New London ferry at the same time.

Cool. so what you can. If you have to come a little later, the directions to my place from the fery is wicked simple. We could even plan on just riding for a while and meeting you at the ferry later.

I could make it on Sunday... (best attempt at a sheepish face) But seriously...don't change any plans just for me. If it remains on Saturday, totally fine. If it goes Sunday, I'll be able to make it. Either way...don't worry about me.

Let's see what Mert says. I'm down for either day. Any word on which day would be better weather wise? Saturday night I am gonna check out Mike's band in Miller Place too, but that's independant of the ride.

mert says...do what's best for you guys...accommodate Mark if that's what works best. as of now(subject to railroad change of course) i have wed/thu off and i am on call for the rest of the week...working outside. could be an overnight gig on friday night or a day job on friday and nothing on saturday. Bullox. sorry guys. do what's best for yourselves. like benny says, i can always meet up later in the day for wrenching and burgers...i will manage the boat alone(big toughie that i am) if need be. i want to see you guys, so i will make every effort to work around work--but calling in 'uninterested' is out of the question. shmerty

Cool John. So I take it either day works for you as long as you're home saturday night? I can't speak for Matt and Shari, but I would imagine they would take a 9 or 10am boat which would land them at 10:15 or 11:15 respectively. That gives Mark enough time to ride out from the city (if we do it sunday) and he and I will meet (and anyone else who wants to) near the LIE and ride up to meet the boat.
Speaking of which... As you guys depart the boat, follow the road to the right as you leave the ramp (only way to go) and then it merges you with the main drag. You'll see a large parking lot on the right separated from the dock ramp. That's where we'll meet. Take your very first right as you merge (stay in the lane) and just keep bearing right. Bikes usually park along the tree line there for shade, and that's where I'll be!

No problem at all. I still haven't had a chance to wire up my tach, so I think you'll get to see a tank removal among other things. If Matt and Shari can decide on a time, you should take the ferry with them!

Let's keep an eye on the weather. 9 or 10 is fine with me to take the ferry. Benny, you need any tools(or multimeter) that I could bring?

Well I'll keep watching the thread...
The weather is the same for both days 74 w/ 30% chance of T-storms on Saturday & 73 w/ 30% chance of T-storms on Sunday.

If it is all the same with you guys, I'd prefer sunday. Went to the Doc's today and I think I'll be seeing them again saturday morning. Not sure what time yet, I'll shoot for early AM so I have be free for saturday mid day no matter what, but Sunday would be best. Also, my place is a mess Matt, tools... I have most stuff, but if you want to bring your meter that would be sweet. I can't think of any other specific little tools, ya know? Surprise me! I have a meter, but it's buried in my tool bag in the trunk of my car. As for the weather, it's only a 25 min ride to my place from the ferry, so if we get a little wet it's not a big deal. I'll grill in the rain

Sounds good Mert and Mark. Shari just let me know what time and maybe in a PM I can give you directions to wherever I think we'll be. Most likely my place. Maybe we can send someone to Target to meet you. Nice fat landmark, ya know?

The ferry runs at 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 from Bpt. I'll wait and see what time everyone can make it. Sunday does look like the best for weather.

i will probably take the 9:30 which will arrive at about 10:45. There is no 9:00 ferry from Bpt. If Shari can make this or the 10:30 then I will wait for her.

Matt,
plan on the 0930. that way if i can't make it, you won't be stuck waiting around for me. Unfortunately, being on call means i won't know until Saturday night or Sunday morning whether i'll be able to meet up.
so, guys...please check PM's and cell phones Sat. night and early sunday morning.

Matt,
If I come down RT 8 south it dumps me out in Bridgeport what exit off 95 is the Ferry North or South. If I leave at 8 I could be there by 8:45 or 9:00. I'm taking it in tomorrow for the first 500 mile check and will get it back on Friday so she will be all set to go.
When I bought the bike (Libbys Motor World New Haven, CT.) the told me the first check up at 500 miles was mandetory at $125.00 then after that I could do the maintance myself. Has anyone else every heard of this. They told me I had to do it for the warranty.
Thanks,
John

You take exit 1 off of Rt 8. No need to get on the highway. When you exit, go straight through 2 lights, make left under the train tressel, go straight to the ferry entrance. Follow the signs as I may be a bit off! You can do your own maintenance, but $125 seems a good deal to me. Just keep those receipts.

Poppy, Matt is right. I take Rt 8 to and from there all the time to go to VT. Just take exit 1, go straight and there are signs. I do believe it is the 3rd light where the left is. Those lights after the left take FOREVER sometimes, so I run em sometimes Just look real carefully under the tracks for traffic. Chances are the guard guys will just wave you by any cars waiting so you and Matt should meet up right at the ramp. Mark, if they won't be here till 10:45, then we can make it 10am and have plenty of time to get a spot and find some shade. Shari, you have my number...
